School Improvement Plan (SIP)

• Puts the schools vision and mission into action• Identifies needs or areas for improvement based on school data• Provides clear goals or outcomes• Can be measured for success or progress• Outlines how School LAND trust funds should be used

Creating the SIP

• School teams collaborate in departments (or grade level/content teams) to create professional learning communities.• These teams:

1. Identify essential standards2. Develop or adopt common formative and summative assessments3. Review assessment data4. Identify specific students or groups 5. Develop and enact specific interventions/extensions6. Reassess

• These teams pass data/needs on to the school data team

Creating the SIP

• School data team is comprised of representatives of each team.• School data team meets regularly to present/examine data,

collaborate on findings, determine plans • A recommended SIP will be developed using input from this group

and department heads.• The SIP will be presented to stakeholders for feedback and approval.

Team Collaboration

• Step 1 – Identify Essential Standards: Nice to know, important, critical• Step 2 – Develop or identify common assessments for the essential

standards• Step 3 – Administer common assessments• Step 4 – Examine and compare data across subject/grade level teams• Step 5 – Team consensus on proficiency
