The Valleys occupy the south central area of the province. The weather conditions make it the most

popular area. In summer , it’s hot during the day and cold at night. The Provincial Park and the Provincial Reservation belong to the Biosphere Reservation.

It goes from North to South along the Rio Grande and the side's mountain formations. The Quebrada

de Humahuaca occupies the central area of the province. It is a tectonic valley produced by a break

of the surface. It rains from 500 to 1000 mm according to the sector.

It is known as jungas Jungle (the jungle in the East of the Cordillera de los Andes, from Venezuela to

Catamarca in Argentina). Here it is known as ¨SelvaTucumano Boliviana¨, ¨Nuboselva¨ or ¨Jungas¨.

The vegetation is well organized.

Puna is a high massif on the old massif of Brasilia and it covers around 90,000 kms. The main characteristic is

the formation of gaps. The climate is very strong (a lot of rain and winds). The fauna is represented by vicuñas,

llamas and sheep.
