On Friday, June 14th, the city of Piedras Negras, Coahuila, Mexico experienced an unusual event. That morning, there was more than four hours of incessant, heavy rain, and by noon the effects on various sectors of the city were large-scale, flooded streets where several households began to suffer the ravages of 5 inches rain. But this was not all, the situation was complicated when later in the evening (10:30 PM) and early Saturday (4:30 AM), much more intense storm conditions dumped torrential water throughout the province, adding 14 inches of rainfall. The heavy rain caused the already saturated streams and rivers to overflow around town. This June, tiles were installed on the floors in all classrooms and offices of this beautiful educational complex. With the main entrance door installed as well, the building looks like it’s coming together wonderfully. We patiently work to the day soon when we will make use of this educational space. God-willing we estimate the building will be completed by the beginning of the Spring semester 2014. Have you considered God’s call to Christian ministry? Unfortunately many people were affected as heavy rains fell, thousands of families have suffered the loss of all their material posessions; household goods/ appliances, furniture, cars, clothing, personal items, workplaces, and homes. Colegio Biblico Campus Mexico was also affected by this flooding. Rain and flooding caused severe damage to campus facilities especially in married student apartments, where water entered and damaged mattresses, frames, furniture and personal items of students who are mostly absent because of the holiday period. The Colegio Biblico administration and staff appreciates the genuine concern of those who in recent days have been in contact with the institution, and we invite you to continue to pray for us. <<
