In an industry swarming with tacticalknives and a bewildering number of so-called Martialexperts its hard to imagine a time when all of this was taboo.
Surprisingly, not too long ago it was considered bad taste to even contemplate discussing the tacticalapplications of a knife. Design was predominantly limited to either historical interpretation or aesthetic value.A few visionary custom knife makers made their own explorations, but all the major knife companies shied awayfrom the contr oversy of the fight ing knife.
Then along came Co ld SteelWe not only proudly discussed the tactical application of the knife, but we began openly testing those theories
with graphic and extreme demonstrations of strength and sharpness that shook the industry to its core. With our unflinching discussion of the combative use of the knife, and by subjecting our knives to grueling and
dangerous torture tests in front of live audiences we won the hard-earned praise and support of the military, lawenforcement and self-defe nse communities. Our first adopters were warriors, and we take great pride in that. Asour company President, Lynn C. Thompson is fond of saying; We were tactical before tactical was cool!
We believed from the outset that it would be unethical and negligent to develop such sharp and effective toolswithout focusing on their strength as well. Therefore we continue to invest millions of dollars into not only the designand development of sharp knives, but strong knives too! Cold Steel has led the way in lock design, handle ergonomicsand material development and, to this day, we believe you will not find stronger or safer knives on the market.
Now, over 30 years after we first stunned the industry with our graphic testing, we remain true to our roots withanother installment of our world-renowned PROOF series that we have named APOCALYPSE PROOF!
Watch us subject our products to the most grueling and horrific torture testing that we could devise, and see why youshould spend your hard-earned money on Cold Steel. We hope this video will prove as entertaining as it is informative, but be warned: This presentation features hardcore
cutting tests, torturous abuse and extreme feats that may be too graphic for some people, and viewer discretion is advised.

VG-1 SANMAIIII
When considering a new material for a performance upgrade for the Cold Steel Tanto, we tested sevendifferent grades of steel including Shiro 2, V-SP-2, 10A, 440C, VG-10, ATS 34, and VG-1. Physical testing forsharpness, edge retention, point strength, shock, and ultimate blade strength showed that while many ofthe steels had increased performance in one or two testing categories, only one, VG-1, showed the greatestperformance increases in the most critical categories. With an outstanding ability to retain an edge andproven strength in point and blade tests, VG-1 will provide Cold Steel customers with superior performancepreviously unavailable in a stainless steel blade.
San Mai III: Our San Mai IIIblades are comprised of three layers of laminated steel. Laminated con-struction is important because it allows different grades of steel to be combined in a single blade. A simpleway to think of this type of construction is to imagine a sandwich: The meat center is hard, high carbon steeland the pieces of bread on either side are the lower-carbon, tough side panels. The edge of the blade should be hard to maximize edge holdingability, but if the entire blade was hard it could be damaged during the rigors of battle. For ultimate toughness the body of the blade must beable to withstand impact and lateral stresses. Toughness is generally associated with softness and flexibility in steel, so that, surprisingly,if a blade is made tough the edge wont be hard enough to offer superior edge holding. San Mai III provides a blade with hard (highercarbon) steel in the middle for a keen, long lasting edge and tougher (lower-carbon) steel along the sides for flexibility.
AUS 8A STAINLESSThe words sta inless ste el are mis leading, be cause, in fact , all stee l will stai n or show discolor ation if le ft in adver se conditions f or a
sufficient time. Steel is made stainless by adding Chromium and reducing its Carbon content during the smelting process. There is a seriousperformance trade-off with stainless steel. As the Chromium increases and the Carbon decreases, the steel becomes more stainless. But,
it also becomes more and more difficult to sharpen, and the edge-holding potential is seriously impaired. This is usually why most stainlessknives are rarely razor-sharp and quickly lose what little edge they have.
In contrast, at Cold Steel we use Japanese made AUS 8A Stainless, a high carbon, low chromium steel that has proven itself to be theultimate compromise between toughness and strength, edge holding, and resistance to corrosion.
GERMAN4116German 4116 is a fine grained, stainless steel made in Germany and is used for hygienic applications (medical devices and the pharmaceutical
industry) and food processing which make it a superb material for kitchen cutlery. The balance of carbon and chromium content give it a highdegree of corrosion resistance and also impressive physical characteristics of strength and edge holding. Edge retention in actual cutting testsexceeded blades made of the 420 and 440 series of stainless steels. Other alloying elements contribute to grain refinement which increaseblade strength and edge toughness and also allow for a finer, sharper edge.
SK-5 HIGHCARBONSK-5 is the Japanese equivalent of American 1080, a high carbon steel with carbon between 0.75%-0.85% and 0.60%-0.90% manganese. As
quenched, it has a hardness near Rc 65 and produces a mixture of carbon rich martensite with some small undissolved carbides. The excesscarbide increases abrasion resistance and allows the steel to achieve an ideal balance of very good blade toughness with superior edge holdingability. Due to these characteristics, this grade of steel has been used traditionally for making a variety of hand tools, including chisels andwoodcutting saws, and has stood the test of time and use over many years in many countries.
O-1 HIGHCARBONO-1 is a high carbon, oil hardening tool steel. The O stands for oil hardening. Popular with custom knife makers because of its versatility, it
can be used for stock removal as well as forged knives and is often utilized for tomahawks and axes as well. With proper heat treatment, O-1 willtake and hold a very fine edge while remaining remarkably tough and durable. Known for its ability to be differentially heat treated, O-1 is anideal steel for edged weapons and tools and while more costly than SK-5, it is a decided step-up in performance.
CPM 3VCPM 3V is a highly tough, wear-resistant tool grade steel. It offers the highest impact resistance of any tool steel in its range and it resists
wear, which makes it especially suit ed for larger blades where extre me toughness is required. Because it is so tough, it can be ground morethinly at the cutting edge and still resist chipping. CPM 3V is ideal for use in a hunting knife, and by default has become the go-to steel used bycustom knife makers for everything from camp knives, tactical knives, tomahawks and even swords!
1055 CARBON1055 steel is right on the border between a medium and a high carbon steel, with a carbon content between 0.50%-0.60% and with
manganese between 0.60%-0.90% as the only other component. The carbon content and lean alloy make this a shallow hardening steel with aquenched hardness between Rc 60-64 depending on exact carbon content. These combination of factors make this one of the toughest steelsavailable because, when quenched, it produces a near saturated lathe martensite with no excess carbides, avoiding the brittleness of highercarbon materials. This steel is particularly suited to applications where strength and impact resistance is valued above all other considerationsand will produce blades of almost legendary toughness.
STEELANDHEATTREATMENTPERFORMANCEGood looks are important, in knives as muchas in life! Perfect fits, clean lines, precisegrinds and bea utiful poli shes all a dd value andsatisfaction when you buy a knife. Often, thetrue beauty of a knife only becomes apparentwhen the knife is used!
At Cold Steel,we believe that all of ourknives must perform. We insist all of our knivesdeliver extraordinary performance for theirasking price they must deliver theirmoneys worth.
In order to achieve this goal, we are vitallyinterested in all the elements that are criticalto performance. When it comes to the blade, these include profile, thickness, blade geom-etry, edge geometry, steel and heat treatment.Every one of these factors is studied in minutedetail to arrive at the optimum combinationfor a specific use . If the knife is a folder, weconcentrate on the locking mechanism toensure the strongest, safest construction. For handles, we strive to develop the perfectmix of materials and ergonomics to offer the
most comfortable secure grip available. Aboveall, we TEST what we make! Rigorous testingis the only way to ensure we get the level ofperformance we demand.

AMERICANLAWMAN SERIESBeing a police officer, deputy sheriff or state trooper is often a thankless job perfo
under dangerous and trying circumstances. Long shifts, mediocre pay, missed holidaysand celebrations with family and friends, take their toll. Yet our nations law enforcemofficers continue to tirelessly serve their fellow citizens and provide the thin blue linthat holds evil at bay and allows us to live in peace and prosperity.
Built like a proverbial tank, the American Lawmanand the Mini Lawman are comfoable to use in the most extreme environments and will shrug off even the harshest abu
The drop point bl ades are ci vilian fr iendly in a ppearance yet big, wide, a nd mostimportantly, pointed enough for any cutting or piercing task. Made from Japanese AUS stainless steel and hollow ground to a thin, hand-polished edge, theyre sharp enough teasily sever the toughest, most fibrous materials. Plus, to protect the blades from rustexposure to inclement weather, they come with a black, non-reflective Tuff-Ex finish.
Since law enforcement officers never really know what is in store for them from oneto the next, we thought it was very important to make the handles as versatile and usefriendly a s possible . Their well t hought out finger gro oves make them equa lly comfortand effective in either a forward or reverse grip and they can even be choked up on tasks requiring extra fine edge or point control.
Keeping a firm grip on their knife when their hands are cold, wet, tired or oily is alsomajor priority for law enforcement officers. Thats why we have equipped these knives aggressively textured G-10 handle scales. Theyre lightweight, enormously strong, and importantly offer terrific traction to the hand so the skin and flesh of the fingers will sto them like glue.
Having the lock break on your folder is serious and may result in badly cut fingers. Bif the lock fails on a police officers knife, it could be disastrous and result in loss of lifor limb. Thats why these knives feature our Tri-Adlocking mechanism. Designed to wstand terrific impact forces and weight loads transferred to its mechanism from the epoint and even back of the blade, it has passed with flying colors and never failed even odespite being subjected to the most gruesome torture testing scenarios we could dev

THETRI-AD
LOCKUndoubtedly, Cold Steel makes the
safest, strongest folders on the planet. Its one of many qualities that separatesCold Steel from our competitors.
Our latest improvement is ourpatent-pending Tri-Adlock. AndrewDemko is the originator of theTri-Ads novel locking mechanism. Its a successor to a patented lockdesign originally created by thevery talented John PerMar.
THESTOPPIN...The cornerst one of the Tri-Ads strength, among other
subtle refinements, is the inclusion of a new stop pin whichre-distributes the load of vertical positive and negative pressureson the lock.
The stop pin rec eives all positive pr essure (pre ssure on thecutting edge) and transfers it into the handle frame and linerswhere it can be more effectively absorbed.
Negative pressures on the lock produced, for example, byprying, digging, piercing or even abusive spine whacks areredistributed because the stop pin receives the forward
pressure from the rocker and transfers it into the linersprotecting the rocker and its pivot from failing.
SELFADJUSTING...Finally, outside of keeping the lock free from the buildup of pocket
lint in the mechanism, the Tri-Adlock requires very little maintenance. Its designed to be self adjusting, in the sense that, over time as partsbegin to wear, the Tri-Ads design will allow it to adapt so the lockingbar always wedges deeper in the lock channel between the stop pinand the shoulder of the precision cut tang notch. This feature allowsfor a very sa fe and secure l ock-up.
Positive pressure on the cutting edgeis transferred from the stop pin into thehandle frame and liners whe re it can bemore effectively absorbed.
Negative pressures on the lock aretransferred to the rocker, pushing it forwardinto the blade tang. The stop pin effectivelyabsorbs most of this force and re-distributesit into the frame and liners.

AK- 47
SERIESIn 1947 Mikhail Kalashnikov, the legendary
Russian gun designer, created the AK-47 assaultrifle. Eventually adopt ed by the Red Army in 1949,it became famous as the Peoples Rifle. Such renownwas well deserved, as it was an utterly reliable weapon. Itwas rugged, simple to operate and maintain, economical, andeffective at reasonable ranges. This weapon, and all it representsbecame the inspiration for our heavy-duty tactical knives, the AK-47folders. Designed by Andre w Demko, the AK-47s possess all of theattributes of their namesake, and perhaps a few more.
Theyre built f or hard and rug ged use and are a vailable in two sizes. Both sizes have many features in common. For instance, both areequipped with G-10 handles that offer a vigorous grip that is remark-ably tough, rigid and incomparably strong. Also, each size comes witha unique pommel made out of 6061 aluminum. The pommels featurea lanyard hole and can also serve as a less than lethal percussiontool in a self-defense situation.
Additionally, the hollow ground blades are honed by hand untilthey reach levels of sharpness only seen on a surgeons scalpel.Theyre made fro m Japanese AUS 8A Sta inless st eel, then vac uumheat-treate d and sub zero quenched for maximum toughness. Theblades are coated with black Tuff-Exfor corrosion resistance and
to enhance cutting power and to improve edge retention by reducingfriction.
The blades a re supporte d by our state of t he art Tri-Ad lock. Inour testing, the Tri-Adhas proved to be superior to any other lockon the market today in terms of overall strength and resistance toshock induced by blows on the spine (eclipsing virtually all locks inshort order) or the even more devastating shock by over-strike thatlands on the handle.
Finally, to assure easy access, the AK-47s come with an ambi-dextrous pocket clip and our new patented thumb plate. The thumbplate has a dual purpose, it allows the knife to be drawn and quicklyopened by snagging it on the edge of a pocket or it can be used like aconventional thumb stud or disc for easy, one-handed opening.

RAJAH
SERIESThe Kukris (see pa ges 52 & 55) be st attri butes and enor mous potential
as a weapon and a tool have been well documented in our Proof DVD series.Weve made different variations of the Kukri over the years, some with longerblades, and some with shorter, but never, until now, have we been able tooffer one you can carry in your pocket as a folder.
RAJAH
II: The Rajah II, designed by Andrew Demko, approxi-mates the feel and heft of a fixed blade Kukri. For example, its broad, downward curved blade exhibits the best of a Kukris characteristics as itsunique shape presents the thin hollow ground edge at just the right angle soit naturally bites deep instead of bouncing or skidding off a target. And,its point is thick, wide, and sharp enough to pierce the toughest targets.
The handle of the Rajah II also shares some of the contours of a fixedblade Kukri with the addition of strategically placed curves and fingergrooves. These feat ures will fa cilitat e 3 grip opti ons. One; very c lose tothe cutting edge where you can really choke up on the handle for fine ordelicate work. Two; by the middle for ordinary cutting chores. And three;near the end or butt where you will have the maximum reach advantage andthe most leverage and weight forward balance for heavy cutting or chopping.
Carry the RajahII as you would any folder, using the ambidextrous clipto attach it to any reasonably sized pocket or clip it in your waistband. Inan emergency all you have to do is grab it and open it with one hand in theconventional manner or snag its unique thumb plate on the edge of a pocketand snap it open.
The only suita ble lock tha t can sustai n the incredib le impact for ces gener-ated by chopping strokes with our Rajah II is our Tri-Adlock (see page6). Designed specifically to take the pressure off the smaller, more fragileinterlocking surfaces of a conventional rocker lock and transfer them to auniquely positioned stop pin that will absorb and distribute them through thesteel reinforced Griv-Exhandle.
RAJAHIII:The RajahIII is basically a scaled down, more pocketfriendly, ve rsion of it s big brother. Designed by Andr ew Demko, it share salmost all the major features of the RajahII including an AUS 8A stainlessblade, Tri-Adlock, thumb plate opener, ambidextrous pocket clips, and aGriv-Exhandle with Aluminum liners for extra strength and rigidity.
The Rajah IIIs handle offers a number of grip options due to its carefullysculptured shape and cross section and is particularly well suited to thereverse grip thanks to a unique thumb shelf built into the butt.
SPARTAN The word Spart an conjures up the vivid hist ory of the bat tle of Thermo -
pylae, a story of enormous courage in the face of devastating odds. TheSpartans were a tough breed, trained from childhood in the art of war andinured to most privations, both mental and physical. Engaging them at closequarters was something to be feared and avoided, as their famous Kopisswords struck off arms and legs like a scythe in a wheat field!
Designed by Andrew Demko, the Cold Steel Spartan is a folding Kopisscaled down to accommodate the demands of a tamer, more sophisticatedworld. The 4 1/2" blade evokes the classic Kopis of the ancients with itscharacteristic recurved edge, big belly and sharp, acute point. Its hollowground from Japa nese AUS 8A stai nless and has s ome similar ities wit h aKukri. Like the Kukri, the Spartanalways presents its edge at an angle to
the material being cut to produce a deep sheering effect. However, since itspoint is narrower and more acute than most Kukri blades, it stabs almost aswell as it cuts.
The Sparta nalso echoes the ancient Kopis in its handle. Its designedto help the hand resist the pull of centrifugal force and to retard forwardmomentum, when stabbing, or backward movement, when hammering orsmashing with its pommel. Injection molded out of Griv-Ex with steel linersfor streng th, its heavi ly contoured fo r comfort and fe atures ir regular fl utingand a heavily textured surface finish for an exceptionally effective grip.
The Sparta nhas dual pocket clips to assure ambidextrous carry andfor quick dra w opening. Additional ly, it incorpora tes our Tri-Ad lockingmechanism, which has proven, under torture testing to be almost imperviousto stress, strain and shock. Its almost impossible to overcome and offers ahuge margin of safety not found in our competitors folders.

ESPADA
SERIESIn the late 1500s a new breed of men sprang from the
impoverished soil of the Extremadura region of northwesternSpain and sailed to the New World to seek their fame andfortune. Sma ll in number and a rmed with lit tle more tha n thecloaks on their backs and an Espada (sword) in their belts, they cut a bloody path through impossible odds to emerge asConquistadors of everlasting fame and glory. Even today fameand glory are still to be won and available to the well armed ingreat abunda nce. Carve out your share wit h the folding sword o fthe future we call the Espada.
Available in three sizes, the Espada was designed by customknife maker Andrew Demko and Cold Steel President Lynn C.Thompson. Their goa l was to harnes s old world cra ftsmanshi pwith new world advancements in mechanics and materials tocreate a new series of tactical folders for todays Conquistadors.
The Espada s are not for the weak, timid, faint of heart orthose desiring another spring assisted play toy. Pick one up andyoull see what we mean! Definitely not politically correct, theyare huge yet surprisingly well balanced and feature dramaticallyupswept clip point blades that are ideal for cutting, slashingand piercing. Made from vacuum heat-treated and sub-zeroquenched Japanese 8A stainless steel and hollow ground to athin, razor sharp edge, they will cleave through just about anyobstacle or target.
To make your hand the re al master of these awesome b lades
we have paired them with state of the art pistol grip handles.Strongly curved and equipped with multiple finger grooves andeven a sub-hilt in the two larger models, they work perfectly ineither a forward or reverse grip while offering unprecedentedretention and reach through multiple grip extension options.
To minimize overa ll weight and max imize stren gth and rigi dity,we have CNC machined the frames and integral bolsters of theEspadas handles from 7075 Aluminum billets. While quitecostly, this material rivals even Titanium in strength and canendure years of the hardest abuse. Finally to make the handle asbeautiful as it is effective and strong, we have mirror polishedthe dovetailed bolsters and attached glossy black G-10 handlescales using the latest high tech fasteners.
We dont believe any tactical folder can make a credible claimto being a pocket sword without possessing an incrediblystrong and reliable lock and the Espadas are no exception.Thats why we have equip ped each model wit h our new multi-patented Tri-Adlock. Designed by Andrew Demko, the Tri-Adis unsurpassed in resisting positive pressure from the edge(cutting, slashing and chopping), negative pressure from thepoint (piercing, digging and chiseling), and i mpact pressure(whacks on the back of the spine of the blade) by diverting theseforces first to its unique st op pin and then thr oughout the enti rehandle frame.
At first thought, carrying a pocket sword as big and heavyas the Espadamay seem impractical. However, after muchexperimentation, we have found this is not the case. Even thebiggest model can be carried discreetly and unobtrusively in thefront pocket of most pants and when cl ipped to the wai stbandand covered by a bloused shirt or sweater they totally disap-
pear. Then in an emergency they can be drawn and opened in asingle motion by snagging the patented thumb plate on the edgeof a pocket.
G-10 ESPADAS: If you have been secretly lusting afterone of our gorgeous Espadas but find they are just out of yourprice range, look again. Our new all G-10 models are almostidentical where it really counts and sell for a fraction of the costof their much more expensive brothers.
Made practical and tactical they offer blades with stonewash finishes, non slip high friction G-10 handles, abbreviatedsteel liners and our incomparable Tri-AdLock. Get 90% of thestrength with no sacrifice in cutting power and save big bucks.

TI-LITE SERIESOur Ti-Litetactical folders
evoke the sleek speed and rebel-lious lines of the classic 1950sstyled switchblade. Unlike mostswitchblades however, they arelegal to carry nearly everywhere.
They featur e Japanese ma deAUS 8A stainless steel blades witha bead blast finish, razor sharpedges and sturdy, needle sharppoints. The CNC milled handlesare forged from super tough 7075Aluminum billets (known to beas tough and strong as Titanium)and are given an attractivebead blast surface and finishedwith a protective EDP (ElectricDischarge Plating) coating. Andfor maximum str ength and sa fety,we have equipped our Ti-Lites with our patent pending, stainlesssteel leaf spring locks (proven, inour tests, to hold up to 145 lbs).
For ease of carry, the Ti-Litescome equipped with a small, butunobtrusive steel pocket clip, andcan be opened rapidly by usingthe thumb studs or by snagging aquillon on the edge of your pocketas you draw your knife out.
ZY-EXTI-LITES
We know that many of ourcustomers love the look of ourTi-Lites but find the prices alittle steep. This is the reasonwe decided to create some af-fordable a lternat ives. The Zy-Ex Ti-Lites mimic the look of theirmore expensive counterpartsalmost exactly. Instead of 7075Aluminum, we used 43% glassfilled Zy-Ex for the handles. Theresults are extraordinarily light-weight knives that are remarkablystrong, sharp and good looking,at a price almost everyone canafford.

HOLDOUTSERIESThe Hold Out has fa st become one of Col d Steel Pres i-
dent Lynn C. Thompsons favorite folding knives.Ideal for military and law enforcement personnel, or just
law abiding citizens who may find themselves in harms way,the Hold Out series provide the comfort and peace of mindthat comes from carrying a high performance folder but inan astoundingly lightweight and easy to carry package.
Ounce for ounce, they may well be the strongest foldingknives in the industry! Their beautiful, minimalist designis a wonder of functionality; while deceptively simple inappearance, they represent a huge array of design break-throughs and a staggering amount of performance!
The Hold Outs beaut iful sat in polished bl ades areextremely broad; they are flat ground from the spine, witha shallow V cross-section culminating in a razor sharphand-honed edge. Continuously curved from the heel to theneedle-sharp tip, the blade cuts and shears through toughand fibrous material with ease and makes short work oftasks that would challenge many of the folding knives onthe market today.
Its American G-10 handle is a wonder of ergonomicdesign. Allowing a full and secure four-finger grip. It iswonderfully secure in hand and will not roll or twist withuse. The grip enhancing G-10 and handle holes further aid
traction in a wide range of grips, working equally well tip up,down in an ice pick grip or even held like a push dagger!Incredibly thin and flat, with an ambidextrous pocket
clip designed for deep carry, even the largest of the HoldOut series is easily concealed in a pocket, clipped intoa waistband or tucked into a boot. The blade and handlegeometry and t he positioni ng of the Tri-Ad lock in the HoldOuts came together perfectly. Working together to create aknife whose strength versus weight ratio stunned even ourown research and development team!
We believe that the Hold Out may well represent thefuture of mult i-functional , high perfo rmance every d aycarry knives.

SAFEKEEPER
SERIESHere are perhaps the finest production push knives in almost 150 years. They have the cutting and piercing
potential of a larger knife, but are small enough so that they can be easily attached to tactical web gear, tucked in awaistband or boot top, or even strapped to a wrist or ankle.
SAFEKEEPERII: Designed for the twenty first century, the Safe Keeper II is the ultimate push knife. Justthe look of this knife with its wicked blade jutting out from the fist is enough to deter almost all aggressors. And, ifaction is necessary, the Safe Keepers shock absorbing Kray-Exhandle imparts devastating punching blows, yet is sosecure in ones hand that its practically impossible for even a novice to be disarmed.
SAFEKEEPERIII:The Safe KeeperIII offers outstanding versatility, especially as aboot knife. Its light weight and overall length of five inches make it the perfect combinationof small size and big performance.
The single ed ged design of t he Safe Keeper III means you can safely choke up onthe blade for extra fine work, while the false edge provides superior point strength. With only one sharp edge, the Safe Keeper III can double as a rescue knife.

STEELTIGER
Cold Steel has always contended that the Karambit is a specialized styleof knife with unique but limited uses. It is also, however, quite popular. So, inresponse to the many requests from our customers, and with the help of customknife maker, Steven Likarich, we proudly introduce the Steel Tiger , our interpre-tation of this ancient Indonesian knife.
It possesses all the best features of the classic Karambit and unites them withmodern styling and materials, and, best of all ; weve kept it very a ffordable.
The broadly cur ved Japanes e AUS 8A stainle ss blade is be autifull y polished, taper ground, and vacuum heat-treated and sub zero quenched for maximumstrength, cutting power and edge retention.
But its the grip that really disting uishes it from the competition. Des igned forcomfort, strength and ease of use, it features a tough Griv-Excore that encap-sulates the tang, emerging as the bolster/thumb-shelf and distinctive finger ring. This core is t hen overmolded wit h Kray-Ex, which yields more to hand pressurethan Griv-Ex, and in turn, creates a superb, non-slip grip.
For safety, convenience and quick access, the Steel Tigercomes with a sturdySecure-Exsheath that you can lash to your gear or retain on your person via theremovable boot/belt clip.

WARCRAFTSERIESWARCRAFTTANTO
Lynn C. Thompson has championed the awesome powerof the Tanto for over 30 years. A pioneer in modern Tantodesign, Lynn developed Tantos that could not only provideamazing cutting and piercing power, but perform a brutalsnap cut too, making lightning fast, versatile and powerfulknives that were met with great critical acclaim andwidespread popularity, particularly with the Military whoappreciated their robust and reliable design coupled withsuperior fighting functionality.
But, unlike many designers who rest upon their laurels,Lynn continued to explore, research and refine his designs, looking for ways to make better and better products. Overthe next three decades Lynn has developed a wide variety ofTantos, and t he Warcraf t Tanto (the fir st in our n ew series ofWarcraft blades) embodies his very latest thoughts and ideasregarding this truly inspiring blade shape.
The Warcraf t Tantos blade is noti ceably thi cker than ma nyof the knives on the market today. With its tough reinforcedtip, elegantly curved cutting edge and sturdy one-piececonstruction, it is designed to soak up punishment whiledelivering unprecedented performance.
Made from high quality, expertly heat treated, sub zeroquenched American CPM 3-V steel, the Warcraft Tantosblade features a stout flat ground primary cutting edge and achisel ground secondary blade bevel, both hand sharpened to
hair popping sharpness. The intersection of these two bladebevels (The Yakote) forms a wickedly effective secondarypoint that allows for a devastating snap cut.
The Warcraf t Tanto is then DLC coated our DLC (DiamondLike Coating) is not only highly rust and scratch resistantbut reduces glare and minimizes friction when cutting whilemaking the blade incredibly hard.
During the testing process for this knife our R&D team lefta prototype exposed to the elements deep in the Pennsylvaniawoods. After 3 months the blade was immaculate!
Its perfectly balanced taper-ground full tang is encased in3D machined American G-10 scales. Comfortable and securein hand, its equally at home as a reliable workhorse or life-saving combat knife.
Complete with our ever popular Secure-Ex sheath(now compatible with Tek-Lokbelt adaptors to facilitateconcealed carry under a coat or jacket) , the Warcraft Tantois rugged, dependable and as powerful as it is beautiful.
MAGNUMWARCRAFTTANTONew for 2014! Bigger, badder and bolder! The Magnum
Tanto is the late st editi on to our Warcraf t series.Featuring the same game-changing DLC coated American
CPM 3-V steel as its smaller brother, but with a new 12 longblade that is 1.5 wide! This huge O Tanto has more weight, more reach and more cutting power and performs more likea short sword than a long knife. In fact, following extensivetests with the Warcraft Magnum Tanto, Lynn Thompson him-self was rendered speechless, finally exclaiming This knifeis a monster!

WARRIORSERIESJAPANESESTYLEDSWORDS
The Japanese s words of the Empe rorSeries (See page 31) have proven, sincetheir initial introduction several yearsago, to be quite popular with many ofour customers. Still, we are aware thatthere are some people who want a battleready sword but hope to find one at amore affordable price. Our WarriorSeries addresses this problem directly. In our efforts to reduce the costlinessof the blades, we have omitted theexpensive mirror polishing that we usedon the Emperor swords to create aseries of Japanese swords with a morepractical finish.
The Warrior S eries sword s are veryhandsome in their own right and sharethe same steel, heat treatment, andsharpness as their more expensive Em-peror counterparts. Like the Emperorswords, they have Sam covered, cordwrapped handles and quality fittings. Ifyoure in the market for a strong, good
looking, reasonably priced Japanesesword we know youll be happy to ownone of these.

TANTOSERIESThere isnt a pe rson working i n the knife indus try today t hat
knows more about the Tanto than Cold Steel does. It was, after all, Cold Steel who invented and popularized this knifestyle in the early 1980s. We have spent well over a million dol-lars persuading the public, both through advertising and live orvideotaped demonstrations, of the Tantos many advantages. We have been producing Tantos for more than 30 years now,and there is still no factory or custom knife maker aroundmaking a Tanto that can approach the cutting, slashing orpiercing power of one that is manufactured by Cold Steel.
All of our Tantos feature a deep lustrous satin finish onthe hollow ground blade bevels and a contrasting line grainfinish on the blade fla ts. This te chnique highli ghts our sta teof the art grinding methods and emphasizes the Cold SteelTantos unique appear ance. In addit ion, the Tantos come wi th
our famous flattened oval Kray-Exhandle. The oval shapeprovides a solid grip and resists rolling or twisting in the handunder hard use, the kind that, over time, would destroy alesser knife. The use of Kray-Exin knife handles is anotherCold Steel innovation. Kray-Exis an unparalleled space agematerial that wont crack or rot and is immune to the ravagesof bad weather.

As with the Tanto, the Tai Panfeatures a taperedblack Kray-Exhandle with a unique flattened oval crosssection. Over time, this material and handle shape haveproven ideal for preventing the knife from shifting orturning in the hand even under the worst circumstances.
Meticulously fashioned from 300 series stainless steel, the traditional style tsuba and bolster offer both addedsafety and beauty. The Tai Pansbutt terminates in atapered, semi-pointed pommel to maximize the effect ofeven the slightest blow.

DRAGONFLYSERIESThe classi c Japanese bat tle sword in al l its incar nations has be en celebrat ed for centuri es,
not only for its elegant lines and simple beauty, but also for the technique and skill that wentinto its construction.
Most swords offered today are interpretive copies of antiquities from feudal Japan. Theywere made for warriors of small statur e who seldom rose above five and a half feet. Asskillfully designed as these swords are, they may not be perfectly suited for the twenty firstcentury warrior, who benefited from contemporary advances in childhood nutrition andhealthcare and grew up to be a substantially taller, stronger, andmore athletic version of his historical counterpart.
As a way of compensating for this size disparity, Cold Steelhas created the Dragonfly Series. These swords feature thicker, wider and heavier blades, which mirror our Emperor Series inrespect to heat treatment, polish, quality of furnishings, andattention to detail, but with a few new departures.
Most noticeable are the distinctive teal-green silk cord-wrapand black sam (ray skin) used on the handles and the blackiron furniture that bears the dragonfly motif. Also, the polishedblades are more strongly curved than our Emperor blades
and terminate in a long iris leaf point for maximum cuttingand slashing potential. Additional ly, these swords come withtwo protective bags. There is a blue cotton travel bag and anintricately decorative display bag thats made from the finestheavy silk brocade.

BATTLEGIM While researching traditional Chinese weapons near Shanghai, we visited adistinguished collector who had an ancient Wu Jian, or battle Gim.Its appearance and martial spirit were so unique and impressivethat it warranted being reproduced for Cold Steels customers.
The Battl e Gim is forge d from our best DAMASCUS S TEEL bytalented smiths, it features a broad symmetrical point and aslightly wider, heavier blade than custom would dictate. Thisgives it a mor e pronounced bla de-heavy bal ance making it s twinrazor-sharp edges slightly more suitable for cutting and slashing
BUTTERFLYSWORDS Prior to World War II, the Butterfly Sword was virtually unknownoutside of southern China. This changed at the close of the 1940s,when the Communists took control of mainland China, forcingmany Kung Fu masters to flee the oppressive regime and establishnew schools elsewhere. Currently, due to the spread of Kung Fu,these once obscure swords have become quite popular.
Typically, But terfly Swords c ome in pairs t hat are cleve rlynested together so they appear to be one sword not two. When they are drawn, they can be
JADELIONSWORDSThe concept of the guardi an lion emerged in China over 1800 years ago
during the Han Dynasty. The lion, fierce, courageous, loyal andswift, was the perfect symbol to guard home and hearth. Bothdecorative and symbolic, it was common to see elegant sculpturesof these lions guarding the homes of the wealthy and aristocraticor even the gates of the Imperial Palace and the tombs of theChinese Emperors.
Our Jade Lion series draws upon the same protective reputation, combining ceremonial, dress styling with battle ready perfor-
mance. This makes them appropriate for collector s specifically as well as martial artists in general. The watchful Chi nese lion moti f is cast in nick el-slive r with almost sc ulptural de tail on the hea vy

CHINESEWARSWORD There are fe w swords in the worl d that are mor e intimidat ingor more effective than the two handed Chinese War Sword. Forcenturies it has been wielded by both peasants and soldiers alikewith devastating results. Its huge wide blade will shear througharmor as if it were butter, not to mention mere flesh and bone. There is nothi ng clumsy or awkwar d about this swor d. Its 14 1/2"cord wrapped grip, S shaped guard, and steel ring shaped pom-mel all work in concert to make it a well balanced weapon thats
GIMSWORD There are two basic types of straight blade d swords used in China. One is fairlyong and heavy known as the Wu Jian or Martia l Sword. The other is substant ially lighte r and
called a Wen Jian or Scholars Sword and was primarily carriedfor persona l self def ense.
After studying books and video tapes on the history and use ofboth weapons, we decided to make our own battle worthy Gim (WuJian) for serious collectors and practitioners of Chinese Martial
Arts.
SWORDBREAKER The ancient Chi nese Sword Bre aker had a rec tangular (occ asionallyhollow ground) cross section with sharp corners making it possible for it to focus a blow with
maximum impact. Such a blow could, at the very least, beat anopponents blade aside or so far out of line that recovery in timeto mount a defense was virtually impossible. At the most, it couldlive up to its name and could break, bend or disable conventionalswords and many other weapons with a single blow! In eitherscenario, one is left powerless to avoid the Sword Breakers im-posingly ferocious point. Luckily, there were few who encounteredthis powerhouse in battle, as its girth and heft meant it required
a warrior of substantial strength and agility to wield it properly. But, in the hands of a physicallyable, and skilled warrior, it was the scourge of hand-to-hand combat.
We at Cold Steel drew inspiration for our design from an original antique Sword Breaker we were
quickly separated and wielded in both hands to make wickedly effective chops, slashes and thrusts. Our battle worthy blades are 15" long and 2 5/8" wide. The hands ome slip-proof grip feat ures
careful ly selected hardwood covered with attractive ly braided cord. The D shaped guard has a longforward qui llon, so it ca n both deflect and tr ap various op posing weapons.
unbelievably fast and agile. It comes combat sharp and is protected by a stunning, heavy leather scabbard of exceptional
workmanship. Order your sword with confidence as we are convinced you will be more than delightedwith the swords fit, finish, materials, and above all, performance!
The blade of our Gim is made out of 105 5 carbon stee l and measure s 30" long by 1 1/4" wide. For cutting and slashing, both edges are quite sharp and they terminate in a strong, useful point ofstabbing. The traditionally styled guard and pommel are cast out of thick sturdy brass and fit snuglyon a stout Rosewood handle that is both highly decorative as well as functional. The Gim Sword comeswith an excellent wood scabbard with brass throat, chape and sword rings, so that it can be wornsuspended from the belt or slung over the shoulder.
than thrusting. The attract ive Rosewood hilt i s framed by a bl ackened iro n guard and pommel. Theyre embell ished
with an intricate filigree of traditional Chinese Peony flowers and leaves. The matching Rosewoodscabbard is styled in a similar fashion on its chape, throat and ri ng mounts.
Radiantly polished, with twin combat sharp edges, this is not only a vividly striking Gim, but onethat you can stake your life on in battle.
privileged to handle and study in China. Our handle is made of heavy, dense Rosewood with a flutedcross section that affords a good grip. It features beautifully cast nickel-silver fittings throughout, from the decoratively detailed circular guardto the very stout 5 lobbed pommel that effectively counter balances theweight of the blade and makes it easier to wield.
Thirty inc hes long and beaut ifully fo rged out of 1050 high ca rbon steel, our Sword Breaker has a striking rectangular cross section and hollowground flats, and come s compete with a Ros ewood scabbard t hat fea-tures nickel-silver furniture to match the grip. Its built for the extremesof a smashing, hammering fighting style, with a point that is acute enoughto pierce with little effort, yet tough enough to perforate even the thick-est metal armor. Its a bona fide wrecking machine!
The most atte ntion grabbi ng feature, howeve r, are the bla des themsel ves. Forged by ha nd and
expertly tempered from our finest DAMASCUS STEEL, their distinctively subtle swirl pattern bespeaksthe elegant beauty of fine craftsmanship combined with the strength of Damascus.
JADELIONGIM:The Lion Gim is a civilian self-defense Wen Jian (Scholars Sword), with alittle more panache than the practical versions (like our own Gim Sword) that were made for thebattlefield. In our tests it severed and pierced 4" bamboo poles with a single cut or thrust.
JADELIONDAGGER:A perfectly scaled down version of the Gim, it shares the same design, materials and exquisite craftsmanship of its larger counterpart. Its perfectly balanced, big andstrong enough to stand on its own or fight alongside its bigger brother.

ITALIANLONGSWORDANDDAGGERThe era of the l ong sword spanned a lmost three ce nturies (ap proximately 1350 to 1650). Thi s, undoubtedly, wa s because it r eally worke d! It
featured a d istincti ve crucifor m hilt and a long, d ouble edged bla de and was equal ly adept at o pposing both lig ht and heavily armored foe s. Yousee, its extra long blade offered the reach and leverage for powerful stabbing, cutting and chopping strokes while its long cross guard and heavypommel were useful for hooking, striking and smashing. Whe n heavy plate armor was encountered , blows with the edge were marginally effecti veand were often abandoned in favor of a Half-Swording technique; where one hand grips the hilt and the other the blade to better direct the pointin powerful jabs, and to more accurately thrust at the small gaps and joints present in a suit of armor.
Having read S.M. Stirlings Change series of science fiction novels about a world that loses 600 years of technological evolution overnight (anevent called The Change) at least a dozen times each, has left our President Lynn C. Thompson quite taken with the many virtues of the LongSword and inspired him to make a Cold Steel variation.
Modeled on the Italian concept of sword design, the blade and balance slightly favors thrusting attacks, however, its cutting edges are astonish-ingly effecti ve too and can deliver some down right ferocious blows. Addit ionally, its simple crucifor m hilt is also all business with a long upturnedcross guard, leathe r-over-wood grip, and a counter balancing fish tail pommel. The Italian Sword is deadly in a fight and built like a tank.
ITALIANDAGGERSince our Italian Long Sword is light and well balanced enough to use in one hand we thought wed offer a companion dagger to take the place of
a shield, targe, or buckler. Scaled down in size but almost identical in appearance, its sharply tapered, double edged blade slightly favors attackswith the point over the edge and is stiff and strong enough to parry any sword.
VIKINGSWORDThe Viking swor d of the 9th and 10th cent uries fea tured a long wide blade with a br oad central fuller and t wo keen edges. The preferr ed stroke
was a hard slash or chopping blow, so the point was fairly rounded yet acute enough to be useful for thrusting. A simple guard with forward curvingquillons was often utilized and combined with a utilitarian wooden handle that was covered with leather, bone, or even cast in brass.
But, what really made the Viking Sword so distinctively recognizable from its contemporaries was its heavy 5 lobed pommel used to balance thelong blade.
Our sword has features in common with its historical counter part. It has a doubl e edged blade, hand forged out of Carbon steel and then
polished to a brilliant lustre. The wooden handle is covered in leather and is supported by a simple, elegant guard at one end and a 5 lobed pommelat the other. Both guard and pommel feature Celtic knot embellishments.
To house the keen double edge blade, t he Viking Sword co mes with a wood scabba rd covered in bl ack leat her and reinf orced with a hig hlypolished steel chape and throat.
NORMANSWORDThe Norman lust fo r battle a nd ravenous desi re for land a nd treasure can, like the ir famous sword b e undoubtedly tr aced to thei r Viking for efa-
thers who wrenched their homeland in northwestern France from the hands of Charles the Simple in the Treaty of Saint-Clair-sur-Epte in 911 AD.Never satisfied with their lot, it wasnt long before they once again took up their broad, double-edged swords and set sail across the English
Channel to conquer Britain most famously, at the battle of Hastings in 1066 AD.Now Cold Steel is pleased to offer you our battle ready versi on of this famous sword. Lik e the originals we have studied, and the trainer s our
President Lynn C. Thompson spars with, it offers a long wide blade with combat sharp edges and a very useful point. To insure its li ght enough to be eas ily wielde d with one hand we have al so added a si ngle broad ful ler in the ce nter of the bla de that ser ves to
reduce weight, improve balance and add the stiffness needed to withstand heavy blows. The hilt of our No rman Sword is als o reminisce nt of many survi ving origi nals with upturne d, spatulat ed quillons , leather-ove r-wood grip, and a
modified cocked hat pommel. This pommel shape was specially chosen because it allows more room for the hand, while counter balancing theblade and serving as a weapon in its own right.
TWOHANDEDGREATSWORDOur Two Handed Great Sword is one of the bigges t swords we make. But dont let its size fool you, as the re is
nothing awkward or clumsy about this awesome sword. Sure, its big and meant to be carried over the shoulderinstead of in a scabbard, but its extremely well balanced and easily wielded by people of larger stature andphysical strength.
To protect the hands from opposing wea pons, it feat ures a lar ge guard with si de rings plus i ntegral pa rryinghooks that allow the blade to be shortened for close range slashing and stabbing attacks.
The handle is mad e of wood and covered wi th leather and is extra l ong to afford a full two handed g rip.Whats more, its capped by a heavy steel pommel that helps counter balance its long blade and serves as an effective weapon in its own right.
The Two Handed Great S word is sturdy, s trong and batt le ready. If youre looking f or the ultima te in big per formance orie nted swords, yoursearch is over.
HANDANDAHALFSWORDANDDAGGERWe would be hard pressed to think of a more versatile or effective sword than the Basta rd or Hand-and-a-Half Sword we offer here. For
a sword of this size, its amazingly light and fast and tips the scales at approximately 3 lbs. Its 33 1/2" long blade is quite wide so it can producedeep shearing type cuts yet pointed enough to be effective in a thrusting attack. Its long handle is suitable for both a one or two handed grip and isfashioned out of wood covered in bla ck leather. To bal ance the long bl ade we have capped t he butt with a bea utiful sce nt stopper pom mel, whichcan be a lethal weapon in its own right.
A companion dagger is also available. Scaled down in size and almost identical in appearance, it offers a 13" long blade designed to cut andthrust, yet be sturdy enough to stand in for a buckler in defensive roles.
Every Hand-and-a-Half Sword and companion dagger reflects the highest standards in workmanship and materials and comes combat sharp andready for battle. To safely house their keen blades we have also included very attractive scabbards made of wood covered with black leather with asteel throat and chape.

CIVILIANSABERThe cavalry saber reac hed an incompara ble level of popularit y during theNapoleonic wars. An efficient weapon of war with somewhat heroic overtones, it was used by officerson foot as well as troopers mounted on horseback.
It had one drawback. For civilian use, formal, or ceremonial occasions, it was a bit cumbersome, even awkward, as even the lightest models were too heavy and long for practicality. Additionally, themultiple bar hilt, which effectively protected ones hand from an opposing blade, would occasionallycatch, snag, or hook on objects it touched in passing.
The solution was t o scale the mi litary saber down to about the size and wei ght of a small swor dand replace the hilt with a spring loaded folding mechani sm equipped with a single knuckle bow. Thismodification allowed the civilian saber to avoid snags and be worn much closer to the body on thelighter belts and baldrics favored for civilian a nd military dress attire.
Now we offer you our interpretation of the civilian or military dress saber. The hilt features a highlydetailed British lion motif and comes complete with a matching folding guard that locks to the scab-
bard. For contrast, the grip is made of rich black leather and bound in highly polished brass wire.
1796 LIGHTCAVALRYSABERThis saber was widely used by t he British a nd their Pruss ianallies under General Blucher in the Battle of Waterloo. The blades profile was derived from theferocious Indi an Talwar and was rev iled by the Fre nch who strongly pr otested it s use due to the hor-ribly destructi ve wounds it inflicted. In fact, this saber was so successful as a cutting weapon thatthe German Cavalry continued to use it right up to the beginning of the Twentieth century!
1830 NAPOLEONSABERNapoleons cavalry was the bane of the European battlefield. While his horses were second string, his swords were absolutely first rate. They were manufacturedin a state of the art factory dedicated to producing the finest edged weapons of the day.
The medium weight s aber we are of fering here possesses e xcellent cutt ing and slas hing capabil i-ties yet still remains useful for a thrust.
In appearance, it very closely resembles the U.S. 1860 Light Cavalry Saber, but in actuality is afar more ef fective and d urable weapo n. The moderate ly curved bla de is forged out of 1055 Carbon
U.S. 1860 HEAVYCAVALRYSABERAt the outbreak of the American Civil War, therewere two types of sabers issued to the Federal Cavalry: light and heavy. The light version waspopular, but the heavy model, dubbed the Old Wrist Breaker was the one worth owning, as it wasa superior weapon. Its 36" blade offered big reach advantages over most sabers, and its substan-tial weight gave it the leverage to easily crush bones and sever limbs or even a head with a singleblow. The brass guard had three bars to protect the hand and the grip was wire bound leather andcapped with a sturdy pommel.
It's complemented by a sturdy black leather scabbard thats reinforced with a polishedchape, throat, and hanging rings, its elegant enough for the most formal occasions yet stoenough to endure hard wear.
But youve got to draw the blade from the scabbard to fully appreciatethe genius of our Civilian Saber. Hand forged out of 1050 high carbon steelwith a hard spring temper, it sports a narrow, modestly curved 32" bladethat terminates in a wickedly effective point. Primarily thought of as athrusting weapon, our Civilian Saber can deliver a surprisingly deep cutdue to its carefully hand honed edge. Its stout enough to defend againstmuch larger weapons, yet light enough to be fenced from the fingers andwrist like a small sword.
In its double ringed, steel scabbard, it could be easily attached to a saddle or to a belt. After examining and handling a number of original 1860 Heavy Cavalry Sabers, we decide
make our own reproduction with a few improvements. Our blade is made from 1055 carbowith a hard spring temper and will pass the British Proof Test.
Steel and features a long, wide fuller and a very sharp, practical point. The grip is e qually well ma de. Its wrapped in bla ck leather and strongly protected by a
brass three bar hilt. The whole package comes with a heavy duty polished steel scabbard wrings so it can be easily attached to your baldric or sword belt.
OFFICERSFIVEBALLSPADROONIn the age of sail, officers were expected to fight rightalongside common deckhands. An officer never made his choice of weapon recklessly when he knewhe to had to fight hand to hand to repel boarders. The clear choice was a Spadroon as his primaryedged weapon. It was lighter than a cutlass, offered a long, stiff blade, was imminently suitable forthrusting, and had a sharp edge capable of delivering a stinging cut.
Original antique Spadroons are quite scarce, and far too valuable to use as actual weapons, butluckily you can get a Cold Steel reproduction. Loosely modeled on historical examples, our Spa-droon has been hardened to a spring temper, with a combat sharp edge and is capable of deliveringa fearsome cut as well as a lethal thrust. Its handsome too, with a multi ridged faux ivory grip and agorgeous bras s hilt repl ete with the re quisite five ba ll counter gua rd and knuckle bow.
Not to be outshined, the scabbard is equally impressive. Its fashioned from rich black leather,
and hand stitched, and comes with a mirror polished, solid brass chape, throat, and carrying rings.
FIVEBALLDIRKAt our president, Lynn C. Thompsons insistence, weveproduced a matching dirk as well. Highly evocative of the large Spadroon, the Five Ball Dirk offers a rigid double-edged blade, faux ivory grip, brassguard with inte gral five bal l counter guar d and a rich blac k leather a ndbrass scabbard.
If you want a combat quality saber that will pass the British Proof Test and is fully capashearing off arms and even legs with a single blow, this is a must have! It comes with a shforward edge and your choice of a wood and leather scabbard wit h steel mounts a nd fittinall metal scabbard.

1908 BRITISHCAVALRYSABER What makes the ideal cavalry saber? In the charge youneed a narrow, stiff blade with a sharp point to impale your enemies. In the mle, on an immobilehorse, you need a wide, curved, semi flexible blade for cutting and slashing.
The Britis h pondered this dilemma and i n 1908, settled on a s aber that fa vored the thr ust. Ithad a narrow 35" long blade, a thick cross section and a sharp point.
