— specify the optimum technology for a given steel application (steel type and grade, thickness and width of the strip, etc.) and select the mill technology accordingly

— optimize the configuration and installation of the mill stand, to subsequently improve the distribution of coils.

18-Hi Mill

The perfect balance between work roll diameters and relevant flatness, with an interesting cost-performance ratio.The 18-Hi mills are custom-designed for reduction processes in an integrated processing line, forming a multi-stand tandem mill. Only one processing step is then required to shape hot-rolled coils into medium thickness finished products of medium thickness.

SKIn pASS / temper mIllS2 Hi – 4 Hi – 6 Hi: a full range of high-precision mills to ensure a perfect finish for various materials (carbon steel including tin plates, stainless steel, etc.), either in-line or off-line. — This technology allows to achieve specific surface aspects (roughness, brightness, etc.) and improves the flatness of the strip— It is particularly suited for materials with a high drawability or high brightness requirement

These mills can operate in wet and dry conditions depending on the application. It also allows easy access to all sections of the machine for simple and effective operation and maintenance, as well as fast and effective roll change.

These mills are also available in a tandem version with two stands. Fives also offers solutions to integrate single or double reduction skin pass mill tandems into tinplate annealing lines.

2-Hi Skin-pass mills

Designed for demanding applications that require a high level of brightness, mainly used for stainless steel production and equipped with:

— Roll polishing system

— Double acting hydraulic cylinder

4-Hi Skin-pass mills

Suitable for a variety of steel products, from very low to very high strengths with two ranges of work roll diameters and a high-performance roll cleaning system. 4-Hi skin-pass mills are used on galvanizing lines (combined with a tension leveler) and continuous annealing lines.

6-Hi Skin-pass mills

The flexible option for the processing of various types of strips (width, thickness) under any operating conditions (mainly used in continuous annealing lines), maintaining a constant high level of flatness. With two ranges of work roll diameters, the 6-Hi skin-pass mill is then suitable for a wide range of steel grades, from low carbon steel to high strength steel.
