    Introduction

    These terms of delivery provide a general overview of the production possibilities in cold rolling

    mills. The large-scale investment program for the cold-rolling mill in the amount of 300 million euros

    was successfully completed over the past six years. The pickling-tandem link that went into opera-

    tion in 1997 allows the tightest tolerances in thickness. Startup of the continuous annealing furnace

    in 1998 widens the spectrum of available product properties, weldability and paintability and consi-

    derably improves the corrosion protection of cold-rolled steel strip. The electron-beam texturing faci-

    lity that went into operation in 1998 provides determinitic and pseudo-stochastic surface structures

    with the narrowest spreads of roughness values.

    These technologies make it possible for us to keep up with and make substantial contributions to

    market developments.

    These terms of delivery are based on the currently valid standards applicable in the European Union. It

    is our highest objective to give our steel grades the qualities that ensure cost-effective and optimal pro-

    cessing at our customers. To achieve this we employ the most economical manufacturing technologies.

    The responsible technical department is prepared to review any requirements that go beyond the

    terms of delivery or conventional shapes.

    The following contains a general description of the available steel grades and their respective areas

    of application. All steel grades, with the exception of enameling steels, are generally available as

    uncoated cold-rolled wide strip as well as electrolytically galvanized steel strip or with corrosion

    protection primer on steel strip on one or both sides.

    Some dimensions may not be available based on specific plant limitations with respect to the

    respective steel grade. Please find the available dimensions for individual steel grades in our

    12Mild steels for cold forming

    Mild steels for cold forming make up the largest share of the market sector for cold-rolled flat-

    products. These steel grades are divided into groups according to their cold-forming behavior

    and maximum yield stress. The steel grades standardized in the European Union are contained

    in EN 10130, Version 6, for uncoated cold-rolled strip.

    1) The lower yield point ReL applies if the yield point is pronounced.

    2) Maximum values of roughly 20 MPa higher are permissible for the 0.2% yield point at thicknesses 0.5 < d 0.7 mm.

    Maximum values of roughly 40 MPa higher are permissible for the 0.2% yield point at thicknesses 0.5 mm.

    3) Lower minimum values of roughly two units lower are permissible for the yield point at thicknesses 0.5 < d 0.7 mm.

    Lower minimum values by four units are permissible for the yield point at thicknesses 0.5mm.

    4) Values for r90 and n90 as well as rm and nm are applicable only to product thicknesses of 0.5 mm.

    5) Values for r and rm are minimized by 0.2 for thicknesses > 2 mm.

    6) To the extent that no other agreements are made at the time of the order, grades DC01, DC03, DC04 and DC05 can be delivered as

    alloyed steels (with boron, titanium, etc.).

    The chemical composition complies with the standards defined in EN 10130/06.

    The mechanical properties apply to sample specimens and only for cold re-rolled condition.

    12Areas of application

    DC01: Applications in edging and simple drawing (such as for parts in the household appliance

    industry, barrels, radiators).

    DC03: Applications in edging and simple drawing (such as for parts in the household appliance

    industry, difficult radiators).

    DC04: Applications in simple internal and external automotive parts, more complicated parts in

    the household appliance industry (such as fronts with porthole doors).

    DC05: Applications in difficult interior and exterior automotive parts.

    DC06: Applications in most difficult automotive parts (such as oil pans, side panels, interior

    door parts).

    DC07: Applications in extremely complicated deep-drawn parts for fast-running, highly automated

    press lines.

    The values for mechanical properties apply to a time limit of six months for steel grades DC03, DC04,

    DC05, DC06 und DC07. Longer storage times for products of steel grade DC01 can lead to alterations

    in the mechanical properties, particularly to the limited possibility of proper cold forming behavior.

    Freedom of flow lines

    It is necessary to reroll the products in order to avoid the formation of flow lines after annealing.

    However, the tendency toward flow line formation can occur again some time after cold rolling, for

    which reason it is in the interest of the consumer to process the products as soon as possible. Products

    made of steel grades DC06 and DC07 have no flow lines. This holds true for cold re-rolled as well as

    for non-cold re-rolled products.

    The following maximum time periods apply for freedom of flow lines:

    p Six months after availability of products made of steel grades DC03, DC04 and DC05 of surface

    types A and B.

    p Three months after availability of products made of steel grades DC03, DC04 and DC05 of surface

    types A and B.
