Colca Canyon by bus – 2 days, 1 night

Price depends on which hostel you choose (from basic to 3 star hotel.

Day 1: Arequipa – Chivay A private bus will pick you up from your hotel between 8am and 8.30a.m taking roughly four hours to the Colca Canyon.The first stop will be at Salinas and Aguada Blanca National Reserve, a place where you can see the famous vicuñas.Second stop is in a restaurant where you can take this opportunity to use the bathrooms and drink a cup of coca tea(good for altitude sickness). The third stop will be in vizcachani where you can see llamas and alpacas domesticated by

the Andean people. The fourth stop is on the highest point called Patapampa located 4800 meters above sea level.Here is where we observe 8 volcanoes forming a circle of fire. From there you will descend to the main town Chivay tohave lunch and be dropped off at your hotel. You have time after lunch to visit the market of Chivay, relax in your hostelor do our optional walk. In the afternoon you will visit the CALERA hot springs. We will then return to our hostel inChivay where we will have the opportunity to visit some local peñas.

Day 2: Chivay – Cruz del Condor  – Arequipa

 After a 6am breakfast we will leave the hostel and head to the Condor Cross where we can observe the Colca Canyonand the flight of the Condor. You will also have the opportunity to do a walk for approx 1 ½ hours. From Chivay it isapprox one hour and a half driving. You’ll stay there about 1 hour. Taking the same road back to Chivay, you visit the

Colca towns Yanque, with its beautiful church and Maca with its interesting geological problem, the lookout pointsHuayrapunko  – a complete view of the terraces and the mysterious lagoons of the valley  –  Quehuisha  –  ice meltsoriginated from the Amazons. Finally we will arrive to Chivay, where we will have lunch in the afternoon we will comeback to Arequipa, arriving approximately 5pm.
