At the outset, Prof. A.D. Sahasrabudhe, Chairman, AICTE welcomed all the members to the 62nd
emergent meeting of the Council. He informed the members about the urgent nature of, agenda
items being placed in today's meeting, amidst partial lockdown in the country due to covlD-2019
pandemic and the modifild calendar of Approval related activities, as being inflormed to the
Hon,bre supreme court, Maintaining the norms of physical distancing in this period, majority of the
members loined this meeting through Video Conferencing'
The formal Agenda Items were taken up and the following matters were considered, deliberated upon
and decisions taken are as under:

Approval Bureau following:

underChapter.IofAPH-20202-2Tforsettingupofnewtechnicalinstitutions offering a Technical Programme at Diploma/ Post
DiplomaCertificate/UnderGraduateDegree/PostGraduateDiploma/PostGraduateDegreeLevelintheAY2020-21;
ii)GrantofExtensionofApproval[EOA)fortheAY2020.21,totheexisting technical institutions whose cases were under process in
alltheCategoriescoveredunderChapter-llofAPH-20202-21.,since the last Council meeting held'
The council was informed that entire Approval Process 2O2O'
21 has been done online due to covlD'2019 pandemic with
online Scrutiny, EVC etc. Hon'ble Supreme Cou-rt- this year
agreedtotherequestofAICTEtochangetheCalendarforcimptetion of the Approval Process from April 30' 2020 to

institutes were not possible to be completed before 1Sth June

The council ratified the following decisions of chairman,
AICTE:
i) Grant of tol/toA/toR (as applicable) to 296
institutions based on the recommendations of sAC/EVC
inrespectofapplicationsreceivedunderChapter-IofAPH-20202.2|forsettingupofnewtechnicalinstitutionsofferingaTechnicalProgrammeatDiploma/PostDiplomaCertificate/UnderGraduateDegree/PostGraduateDiploma/PostGraduateDegreeLevel in the AY 2020-21;
ii) Two applications for setting up of new institutions are
under Process;
iii) Grant of Extension of Approval (EoA) for the AY 2O2O'
2ltothree(03)existingtechnicalinstitutionswhosecaseswereunderprocessinatlthecategoriescoveredunderChapter-IIorapg-zo2o.2L,sincethelastCouncilmeeting held.
A revised Calendar, as annexed, was placed during deliberations
and the same was approved by the Council'
The Council was also informed that Standing Appeal Committee
(sAC)meetingsarebeingheldtill3gtn|une2o2otoprocesstheremaining .ui", for Ay Tozo-zl. The council, as per practice
empowered chairman, AICTE to take decision on all remaining
casesandsamemaybeplacedinthenextmeetingofCouncilforits ratification'
:ToconsiderandapprovetheproposedbudgetfororganizingDrugDiscoverY Hackathon 2020'
The council was informed that the current pandemic
situation of covlD-2019 has led to a suggestion to- h-o-ld 'Drug
niiiou"ry Hackathon 2o2o'which shall address CSVID-2019
ur,a u"yorrd. The Principal scientific Adviser to GOI vide letter

MIC-AICTEandCSlR,ahackathonhasbeenconceptualizedtoestablish training and leadership in the area of computational,ppior.fr"s to diug discovery ^in
our country' The proposedpf,ig Discovery Ha"ckathon Z6ZO will have 3 phases and the
;r1,T required-budget has been proposed to the tune of Rs'
21.BO Ciore. PSA has requestbd AICTE to make initialprovision of Rs.l.5 Cr to paitially cover phase-1 expenses of
the proposed Hackathon.
TheCouncilappreciatedthisnobleinitiativeduringthe-COVID-2019 situation and approved the proposed budget of

The members were informed that Dr' Usha Natesan' Adviser-I (Approval Bureau) is
completing her deputation term in AICTE and shall be ioining back to her parent department
i.e. Anna university, chennai. trre memuers of the council plaied on-record their appreciation
for Dr. Usha Natesan, Adviser (Rpproval Bureau) for her diligent and noteworthy contribution
in AICTE in Approval related matters and preparation of eFu in rast four years. The council
arso extended thanks to the Vice chance[oi, Rnna University for agreeing to further extension
