Coin Toss Probability 1) Flip a coin 10 times, and record how many times it lands on heads or tails in the data table below. Then flip it 50 more times, and record the same information again. Finally, flip the coin 100 times, and record that data in your table. 2) Now use your data table to create a spreadsheet in Create a Graph. What do you notice about the numbers of heads and tails as you increase the amount of times you flip the coin? 3) Using your spreadsheet data, create a pie chart for each of your three sets of coin tosses. Tile each pie chart with the number of coin flips, and add the percentages as data labels for your charts. Heads Tails 7 3 Heads Tails Heads Tails Heads Tails Example: 10 Flips 50 Flips 100 Flips

Coin Toss Probability Create a Graph Directions: You will need: a computer, permission, completed data 1) Open Google and type in the search box: create a graph 2) Click “Create a Graph” 3) Click “Pie Graph” (looks like a circle) 4) On the right are tabs-click “data” 5) Starting at the top of the page: add your title, your name, & change data sets to 2 6) Under “Item Label” add one in each row: Heads, Tails 7) Put in the numbers of how many times the coin landed on heads and tails in the second column

(Labeled value) 8) Click “labels” on the right 9) Change “type” to show % of total 10) Click “preview” on the right and raise your hand for Ms. Whiteley 11) Repeat for all Coin Toss Probability data you collected. You will have 3 pie charts when you are

done.
