Parent Community Liaison News

Hello Parents

This is an exciting week for Parents. It is the start of our signing classes on Friday! Miss Tahlee will be showing us “Hands On Learning” from 2:30 - 3:00pm in the Library on Friday afternoons this Term. We are starting as a Beginners Class and you aren’t obligated to attend each week. Babies and Toddlers are welcome. Tell us if you are planning to attend or just show up on the day and get ready to move your fingers, learn some signs and make a friend.

Surfing was a great success. Photos are up on Facebook but all of our parents stood up! We will be holding another Learn To Surf class on Friday 10th March at 10.15am. Sign up at the Office if you want to join us- all our parents from the first class were excited to come back!

A reminder that Vanessa will be leading a Parent PT session on Friday 17th March at 9.30 down at the Jetty. Hope it is a fine day for a swim afterwards too!

Might see you at Friday’s assembly?

Thanks

Caitlin Mackie Parent Community Liaison Officer

Good news story of the week! Stage One was very excited today to have a visit from Cassie the Koala and Sandy the Koala carer from

National Parks and Wildlife. Harper and Kannitha from 2M couldn’t wait to share with Mrs Buehler all of

the interesting facts they had discovered from the visit.

Koala Talk 1.3.17

Today Sandy came to our school to talk to us about Koalas. We learnt a lot of new interesting facts.

Koals are nocturnal, they sleep in the day time and are awake at night. The baby koalas eat the mother

koala’s poo. The mother koala has a upside down pouch. The koalas have double thumbs. Koalas are

marsupials. The males scare away the other males. Koalas sleep for nineteen hours a day. Koalas eat a

whole shopping bag of leaves a day. Koalas get their water from eucalyptus trees. Koalas are

endangered. HELP SAVE KOALAS.

Science in 3/4 O

The students in 3 / 4 O have been embarking on an experiment in their Living Worlds Unit. We

began the unit with the questions: What do living things need? What do plants need to grow? Can

a seed grow without water, sunlight or soil? As part of the inquiry process, we chose to eliminate

soil and see if a black bean seed would germinate without soil in either a plastic cup or plastic bag.

What differences or similarities would we see between the two experiments? Here is a little bit of

the process before we transplanted our germinated seeds.
