2012 College of Education Video Contest Technology Showcase

The winner gets two tickets to the Florida State vs. Boston College game on Saturday, October 13 at Doak Campbell Stadium located in the COE Week block section. An $80 value! Time of the game TBA.

Purpose

As part of the College of Education Technology Showcase Day, we are holding a video contest in the area of responsible digital citizenship. Within this broad area, we have a few suggestions for topics you may want to focus on. These topics might include, but are not limited to: 1. Cyberbullying prevention 2. Cybersafety for all 3. Maintaining privacy online and preventing identity theft 4. Appropriate social media etiquette 5. Copyright 6. Other (within the same broad area of responsible digital citizenship)

Your objective is to create a video clip that expresses your feelings or thoughts on your selected topic; whether it is an educational video, a personal experience, a clever teaching tool, a humorous re-enactment, or anything in between. As educators, we should be aware of these important topics and become advocates for responsible digital citizenship.

Eligibility

• All College of Education alumni, students, faculty, and staff, are eligible to enter. • It can be an individual or team project. • An individual might submit multiple video clips.

Guidelines

• Each individual or team will submit a video by October 1st, 2012. Any entries submitted after the October 1st, 2012 deadline, will not be considered.

• All videos should be original and no copyright regulations should be violated. Entrants must

provide information of the resources or references used when statistics or other information is provided.

• Videos must not highlight actual products, labels, trademarks, or corporate names. Product labels

should be covered.

• The content should not contain any profanity, nudity, or things that might be offensive.

• Videos should be submitted via YouTube or on a DVD. Each DVD must be labeled with the entrant’s name, his/her contact information, and title of the video clip. • Videos must be no more than 2 minutes in length. Entries not conforming to the time constraints will not be considered for an award. Video length will be judged from the first to the last frame of your video clip. Credits and title will not be counted towards length.

• Each entry must be accompanied by a completed entry form (submitted online):

• If you are submitting multiple video clips, each entry must have its own unique title, and each entry should be submitted on its own disc or URL.

Rewards

All entries will be reviewed by representatives of the College of Education Technology Fees Advisory Committee comprised of 9 members (faculty and students). Criteria:

• Appropriate to the area of responsible digital citizenship • Creativity • Originality of work • Adherence to guidelines of copyright and duration

We will also invite our COE community (students, staff, faculty, and alumni) to vote for the “Best in Show”.

All winners will be announced October 10, 2012.
