“The Providence Underground”
The design concept for this proposal was to adapt Providence's abandoned railway tunnel into a home for a vast underground area of commerce. This included a retail area for crafts & art exhibits along with an exhibits along with an organic farmer's market. The architectural design within the tunnel maintains a relationship with the urban context above. The goal for my proposal was to turn this abandoned tunnel turn this abandoned tunnel into an attraction for the city with hopes of boosting the local economy and establishing a reputation as a unique shopping experience.

“The RWU Creative Arts Center”Third-Year
The concept for the RWU Creative Arts Center involveda bold, strong concrete bearingwall dividing the flat site intotwo. The building’s circulationfollows down along-side the wall, passing through in certain wall, passing through in certain instances. The program spaces, including an auditorium, electrical shop, studio spaces, art galleries, wood shops, andseveral lounges all plug into thewall. The structure is completely comprised of concrete, both pre-comprised of concrete, both pre-cast and cast-in-place. A simple grid was installed, using intermediate spans and organizing the building providing more intimate spaces along the journey through the spaces.

“School for the Deaf & Hard of Hearing”
The 70,000sf Pre-K-12 School for the Deaf & Hard of Hearing was a semester-long project in my third year. The sloping site was on the waterfront of our RWU campus. Because of this, I wanted to maximize views and provide ample natural light to all spaces in the school. Color and light were the two main themes during the design the two main themes during the design process. Each grade/age-group was seperat-ed into a different section as defined by the building’s color (the older students class-rooms on the second floor). In the main circulation corridors, which are deliniated by double-height clerestory strips, there are many gathering spaces where students could ‘pull-over’ and be able to communi-cate & sign to each other. These “nooks” appeared natural and are crucial for social interaction.
