    1 Acton Storm Tanks

    1.1 General

    1.1.1 All works covered within this document are to be managed and performedto the culture within the Thames Tideway Tunnel vision of Zero Incidents,Zero Harm, Zero Compromise.

    1.1.2 The Code of Construction Practice(CoCP)comprises two parts:

    a. Part A: General requirements. These measures are applicableproject-wide.

    b. Part B: Site-specific requirements. These are site-specific measures,where there are deviations from the general requirements indicatedin Part A.

    1.1.3 This document comprises the CoCPPart B for the Thames TidewayTunnel project works at Acton Storm Tanks site and identifies the detailedsite-specific measures including working hours, site set up and servicingarrangements, taking into account the environmental issues andconsultations with the London Borough (LB) of Ealing and otherstakeholders.

    1.1.4 For ease of reference the CoCPPart B mirrors the headings in Part A.The CoCPPart B sets out site-specific issues and deviations from Part Aso where there are no site-specific measures reference should be made tothe measures set out in Part A.

    4 Site operation

    Topic Site-specific requirement

    Working hours This site willshalladhere to the following workinghours:

    a. standard

    b. continuous for main tunnel secondary liningphase.

    When other types of working hours (CoCPPart A,Table 4.1) are required, these willshallbe subject toagreement with the local authority through theSection 61 process.

    Site layout As per text in CoCPPart A

    Site security / hoardingrequirements

    Hoarding height on the boundary of the site with 1-5Canham Road and with Greenend Road willshallbeincreased from 2.4m to 3.6m.

    The hoarding is to be as defined in CoCPPart Apara. 4.3.4a incorporating suitable art work onpublic facing sections.

    River works As per text in CoCPPart A.

    Other items When mains power is not used, the contractorwillshalldocument why this is the case in advance

    to LB of Ealing.

    5 Public access, highway and river transport

    Site access and gates The site access willshallbe from The Vale viaWarple Way and Canham Road with only a left turninto the site and left turn out. Vehicles willshallegress to The Vale via Canham Road and Stanley

    Gardens.

    The site entrance willshallbe designed to preventany vehicles over swinging the footpath.

    Safe access for construction vehicles willshallbemaintained during winter conditions, along WarpleWay, Canham Road and Stanley Gardens.

    The security barrier willshallbe positioned to allow astandard rigid tipper vehicle to be wholly off theroad whilst awaiting barrier operation.

    Traffic management Five sections of on street parking on Canham Road,Warple Way and Stanley Gardens willshallbe

    Access to a third party vehicle parking area to bereduced to one lane at entrance for short period

    during construction. Access for general trafficwillshallbe maintained throughout, unless agreedotherwise with the local authority.

    Some temporary parking suspension willshallberequired in a third party vehicle parking area duringconstruction.

    The contractor willshallmanage entry and egress ofvehicles across the entrance and potential conflictswith pedestrians crossing, by use of measures suchas traffic marshals. This is particularly forpedestrians going to/from the existing nursery.

    The site specific Traffic Management Plan willinclude the London Borough of Ealings preferencefor signage, tactile paving and road markings thatare provided where diversions are in place.

    6 Noise and vibration

    The construction area around the shaft willshallbecovered by an enclosure/building during the maintunnel secondary lining works. The buildingwillshallhave cladding with a specified soundreduction value. The building openings willshallbedesigned to be away from sensitive noise receptors

    and willshallbe kept closed when not in use atnight. Only essential use of openings at night.

    Movements of vehicles on the site outside standardhours to be restricted.

    Enclose with suitable structure and acousticattenuation material the concrete batching plant.

    Compaction of the fill material in the storm tankswillshallbe undertaken using machinery generatingthe lowest practicable vibration levels which stillenables the required level of compaction to be

    completed. Specifically, the use of large twin-drumvibrating rollers willshallonly be used in locations

    where vibration levels can be controlled to less thanthe impact criteria.

    7 Air quality

    Dust emissions/control Reference should be made to Part A para. 7.5.1 inagreeing locations and data provisions to LB ofHounslow and LB of Ealing.

    Monitoring should incorporate locations to cover

    receptors on Greenend Road. Baseline monitoringfor PM10and NO2willshallbe undertaken for aminimum of 12 months prior to the workcommencing. Note that the nearest AURN monitoris currently at North Kensington. The monitoringlayout willshallinclude a continuous monitor locatedat each end of a transect of the site, with regards tothe prevailing wind direction. An additional monitorwillshallbe located at the boundary of the site with2-10 Greenend Road.
