CoCoMAD - the People’s VerdictTo make sure that CoCoMAD gets better each year we need your thoughts and opinions.

Go to the Cotteridge Park website and fill in the questionnaire

Shopping trolley carnival floats, tree climbing, the best of local live music and the most delicious, local, handmade food.

There is no other festival quite like CoCoMAD.

CoCoMAD is run by Friends of Cotteridge Park, a group of dedicated, or foolish, volunteers. The festival is a big project and we always need more volunteers to help with the planning and to make sure the day runs smoothly.

CoCoMAD is proud to be a FREE festival but we do need your help to pay for the bit the volunteers can’t do:- insurance, paying the bands, licences and the stage.

If everyone puts £2 in a bucket that’s CoCoMAD paid for.

If you want to know more about Friends of Cotteridge Park or want to join the CoCoMAD team have a look at our website.

How did we do?Since we launched Pershore Road Travel Choices in May 2011 we have helped over 10,000 local people choose a healthier way to live and travel.

By supporting residents, schools and businesses in the South Birmingham area many are now choosing an alternative to the car for their journeys.

So why not come along and see us at the festival to find out more about the project and travelling sustainably in your area - and don’t forget to leave the car at home for CoCoMAD 2012.

What the community and local residents have said about the project:

Get Active in Your CommunityFoCP is a volunteer organisation run by local residents who work to ensure that Cotteridge Park is maintained as a great resource for the whole community. The group was set up in 1997 in response to a threat to cut the park’s budget. After the campaign was won the group decided it would work to protect the park and improve the facilities.Throughout the year FoCP organises events in the park like CoCoMAD, Candle-Lit Carols, CoCoCamp, Big Lunch Picnics, Concerts in the Amphitheatre and Fright Night.Volunteers support school and youth group visits and have developed a Forest School programme.Over the years FoCP has raised funds for play equipment and games courts as well as arts projects and sports coaching.FoCP volunteers donate more than 150 hours a month doing daily litter picks and regular grounds maintenance supplementing the service provided by Birmingham City Council.Everyone who uses the park or lives nearby is welcome to join the group either by attending the monthly meetings or just staying in touch by email. If you want to get involved email [email protected] or drop a note into the Park Keeper’s Shed.

After its successful conception in 2011, the CoCoLounge is back. This time around it’s bigger and stronger with a line up that wouldn’t look out of place in Ibiza’s famous Cafe Mambo Sunset Bar.New for 2012 the CoCoLounge area will be hosted by uber cool house music label Secret Life. The sound-system line-up will see residents Pete Gooding, Phil Dockerty and Murray Mckee joined by special guests Danny Whitehead, Juneadan and The Soul Food Project DJs.Expect an eclectic mix of blissed out, balearic beats and cool house music. Another first this year will see the introduction of the Birmingham’s Soul Food Project BBQ, cooking up a veritable feast to get your taste buds dancing.

CoCoMAD is a great day out that doesn’t leave you feeling broke at the end of it. All the music and activities on this page are FREE. It’s run by volunteers but we still have to pay for insurance, bands, equipment and licences. CoCoMAD costs around £10k of which £1,500 comes from Birmingham City Council, £3,500 from local business sponsorship and stall holders, plus £1,500 from grants and fundraising. So we need to raise £3,500 on the day from donations. That’s just a £2 donation from everyone who comes to CoCoMAD. We think CoCoMAD is great but we still need feedback - good & bad - so please go to www.cotteridgepark.co.uk and take part in our survey. Thanks!

Acoustic Tent13:00 - 19:00Your chance to perform at CoCoMADThe Acoustic Tent has moved! So, if you’re a regular, you’ll need to check the map for its new location. As always we will be hosting and showcasing a wide variety of local talent and yes, it could be YOU! The open-mic format is so easy to access. Just turn up and put your name on the list.
