WHO WE AREIn 2010, in the depths of the Great Recession, Steve and Danielle Sechrest and their partner Gary Mangione, identified a growing consumer desire for top quality American-made furniture at affordable prices. Against the advice of a lot of smart people, they started The Comfortable Couch Company, now shortened to COCOCO, and set out to fulfill that mission. Today COCOCO is almost certainly the fastest growing furniture brand in American and their remarkably remarkably comfortable furniture is bench-made in our own small plant in Newton, North Carolina by experienced craftsmen and women using the best materials and time tested techniques. COCOCO Home offers a complete line of sofas, sectionals, chairs, ottomans and benches, and even beds, with timeless styling in either full grain leathers or fine fabrics.

OUR FURNITUREMany of our styles are similar to those offered by large corporate retailers such as Restoration Hardware, Pottery Barn etc.; only better. Ours are made with better materials and made right here in America. In many cases, these large retailers have shifted their furniture production from its historical home in North Carolina’s furniture belt to huge factory cities in China. Cheaper production quality and costs put more money in the pockets of these retail giants. OUR PROCESSThe day you place your order with COCOCO a complex process begins that will climax with the white glove delivery of a beautiful piece of custom furniture in your home with faster average lead times than any other custom furniture maker. The fabric or leather for your order is ordered from the best fabric and leather suppliers in the business. The hardwood frame is precision cut and assembled while our expert Markers and Cutters prepare the leather and fabric for sewing. Once sewn the upholstery material and upholstery are married together on a bench where one of our experienced upholsterers builds out the furniture piece. Cushion and pillow covers are stuffed with top quality cores and, nails or trim are applied and, after passing a quality Inspection, the furniture is packaged for delivery into your home.

OUR MATERIALSAt COCOCO we make our furniture without compromise. Our professionally engineered frames are made from kiln dried oak. Our spring system is an elite pocketed coil system that provides the best in comfort and durability. We use foam that is free of any flame retardants. Our standard cushions, an ultracel foam core topped with layered soft oscillated foam and down is better than other companies’ upgrades. Our fabrics are selected for beauty and well as durability and practicality and no one offers a broader selection of leather styles or colors.

We work closely with some of the best leather houses in the world to identify leather options that provide our customers with a range of options from family friendly semi-anilines to beautiful pure aniline leathers that will grow more beautiful with time as the leather patinas.

SALOON A semi-aniline leather with a waxy crackled effect. Finished in Italy with state of the art technology and timeless craftsmanship, Saloon is an instant classic. Distinctive qualities include a smooth, silky hand and a gentle matte finish. Saloon is scratch resistant, easy to care for and will have minimal to no color variation from hide to hide. Great choice for an active household with kids or pets!

FLORENCE This American-made full grain leather has a mildly distressed appearance with a vibrant finish. It has a soft, buttery hand that belies its durability. Florence is treated with patented Crypton technology making it extraordinarily stain resistant and cleanable.

MONT BLANC’s appeal lies in the harmony of its disparate qualities: a masculine facade balanced by soft warmth that is revealed when touched. With a profound, rich color that flickers to the surface through the layers of finishing waxes, it is a leather for the ages. Earthy leathers rich in color with multiple layers of finishing waxes. Firm with a nice hand and drape. Suitable for high traffic areas. Available in a rainbow of colors.

PURE With a name that embodies the true essence of this leather, Pure is completely natural and is marked by its beautiful, visual aesthetic and distinctive luxuriously, soft hand. Oil is applied to the leather in the drum to fully penetrate and absorb into the hide. It is then milled overnight to mellow and soften the fibers further, continuing to enhance surface feel. A final process lightly burnishes and polished the leather with a result that exudes simple elegance.  

STORM A new full bodied leather from Italy that provides the perfect blend of a Nubuck and the traditional oil/wax pull up leather.  Once the leather is dressed with wax and oil, it is then washed to create a beautiful canvas of color tones and a unique surface feel. The leather is then polished to highlight these subtle contrasts and provide a more casual, less distressed appearance, reminiscent of the appearance of a well worn jacket.

COCOCO fabric offerings encompass the full range from elegant linens, to vibrant velvets to the latest in high technology performance fabrics. Our website is the best place to familiarize yourself with our fabrics. If you are looking for something special let us know and COM is always welcome.

Some of our most popular fabric options include:

WAXED CANVAS For over 100 years Martexin Original Wax Army Duck has been the standard setter for all-natural performance fabrics. Used in applications from outerwear to luggage, waxed canvas combines rugged durability with ease of care. This fabric will develop a patina not unlike leather. Cleaning instructions are to hose it off. (Please don’t actually hose it off, but you get the idea.)

VELVET The most durable of fabrics, our authentic velvets are woven in South Carolina by JB Martin. Cannes is a 100% cotton velvet with a light wear pattern woven into it creating a vintage appeal. Como, also 100% cotton, is a smooth, lustrous velvet. Porto is a soft, smooth 100% poly velvet that is crazy durable and cleanable.

SUNBRELLA Woven in Glen Raven’s North Carolina mills, these solution-dyed acrylic fabrics share the extreme cleanability and fade resistance that made Sunbrella’s outdoor fabrics famous, but have the soft hand and classic weaves expected in fine upholstery fabrics. Sailcloth is a simple box weave. Chartres a sophisticated natural look that brings to mind a linen-silk blend. Trax and Posh offer classic herringbone textures.

BELLA DURA An All-American solution-dyed olefin performance fabric line that carries a manufacturer’s guarantee against fading or staining, Bella Dura offers an amazing variety of complex textures and weaves that produce an amazingly natural appearance with unmatched durability. Available in warm neutrals as well as rich colors.

WILDE IRISH LINEN Moygashel has been producing fine Irish linens since 1795 and Wilde is a great example of why they are still doing so today. Wilde is a heavy weight (15.6 oz) 100% linen with a classic box weave. Wilde separates itself from it’s Belgian cousins with a soft, refined, almost silky, hand that speaks of old world luxury.
