In the Beginning• Founded by ex-hippies Ben Cohen and Jerry Greenfield• 1978 – Ben and Jerry open an ice cream parlor in Vermont• 1984 – Ben and Jerry file suit against Pillsbury• Called the “What's the Dough Boy Afraid Of?” campaign• In 1986, the “Cowmobile” is launched• Used to distribute ice cream across the country• Four months later, it burns down outside of Cleveland

In the Beginning Continued• 1992 – Ben and Jerry’s ice cream join a campaign

to bring children’s needs to the top of the nations agenda

• 2001 – The “Eco-Pint” is introduced

• Ice cream is packaged in unbleached eco-friendly paperboard
