Last week saw our feeder primary schools attend the Key Stage 2 cross-country event. In the Years 3/4's

race over 121 students ran from 7 of the primary schools with Daisy Woodcock coming home in first place -

well done Daisy! In the Years 5/6 race 91 students from 6 of the primary schools completed 2 laps of our

football fields in a very competitive race. The individual winner was Harry Johnson - well done Harry! The

overall winner of the team event was Fairfield Primary School, closely followed by Broughton Primary

School. Over 210 primary students attended this event with the support of their families, extended families,

friends and school staff. What a fantastic event and talking point for our local community.

Sports Leaders :

Our fantastic Year 10 sports leaders are continuing to support and give back to our local community through

various events. Last week was for the cross-country event where they marshalled, encouraged and recorded

all 210 runners from the afternoon. A special mention to Ben Jenkinson, Angus Lister and Jed Napier who

were our ‘hares’ for the race. They had their work cut out to stay in front!

Congratulations to all of our athletes who were chosen to represent Allerdale at the County Athletics Trial in Carlisle on Saturday 9 June. Well done to those who were placed in the top two of their event who now go on to represent Cumbria at Gateshead on Saturday 16 June. Outstanding performances across the board. Athletics is an event where Cumbrian athletes can compare themselves against the best in the country and our athletes really did step up!
