Page 17: Cobalt webinar 1

17

What is STNA?

• STNA is a free online tool that helps with planning and formative evaluation of technology projects in educational settings

• Collects data on teachers’ perceptions about technology-related phenomena

• STNA helps determine the collective needs of a school related to the use of technology

Page 18: Cobalt webinar 1

18

What is STNA?

• Use STNA if you want to know what staff members think and feel about:– Leadership, planning, and budgeting– Infrastructure and resources– Professional development– Use of technology by teachers and students– The impact of technology on students

Page 19: Cobalt webinar 1

19

• STNA measures 4 broad constructs– Supportive Environment for Technology Use– Professional Development– Teaching and Learning– Impact of Technology

B. Professional Development

C. Teaching and Learning

D. Impact of Technology

Page 34: Cobalt webinar 1

34

How to Administer STNA

4 steps should be followed:1. Planning for STNA Use2. Initializing the Online STNA Instrument3. Managing STNA Responses4. Using Your STNA Data

Page 35: Cobalt webinar 1

35

Planning for STNA Use

Convene a team responsible for evaluation and technology planning in your school

Determine how STNA can address technology-related questions

Select a STNA manager for each school

Develop a method to track who has (and has not) completed STNA

Determine how and when respondents will complete the STNA

Communicate the purpose of STNA with school staff

How to Administer STNA

Page 36: Cobalt webinar 1

36

Initializing the Online STNA Instrument

• Collaborate with Danny Stanhope and provide:1. Names of each school participating in STNA2. Dates to open and close the STNA online survey3. Approximate number of staff expected to complete STNA

• You will receive an individualized survey link for each school and additional instructions

How to Administer STNA

Page 37: Cobalt webinar 1

37

Managing STNA Responses

Implement the plan to ensure a high response rateHave someone with technology skills available for

supportFollow up with slow respondents, guiding them

through the process if necessaryBe aware of teachers submitting more than one

response

How to Administer STNA

Page 38: Cobalt webinar 1

38

Using Your STNA Data…will be covered in:

– Webinar 2: Interpreting STNA Data

– Onsite Workshop: Developing a Data-Driven Action Plan

– Webinar 3: Refining a Data-Driven Action Plan
