Time Flies
Oh, how Time Flies! It seems like just a few short weeks ago that we
started planning the 2020 Quilt Show. It is now a mere month before
your quilts must be photo ready and your entry forms turned in. Mark
and his team have worked tirelessly to assure that they are ready to
present your quilts. Now it is your turn to come through with quilts that
span the world of quilting. We want both pieced and appliqué, large
and small, traditional and art quilts, beginner and expert level. We
want to see them all. Challenges have been issued that don’t require a
large quilt… choose one and stretch your imagination.
I will admit I have not completed a quilt that I deem “Show worthy”. But
I do have many unfinished quilts in my sewing room each at different
levels of completion:
Some need bound
Some need quilted and bound
Some need borders added, then quilted and bound
Some need blocks sewn together, borders added, then quilted, and
bond
You get the point. I am starting with the ones that are closest to com-
pletion, not necessarily the most “Show worthy”. With this goal in mind
I hope that I can have 5 quilts ready to be photographed by the entry
deadline and completed before the turn in date. If my more complex
quilts do not get finished, that’s OK. There is always the next show.

Potluck Salad Luncheon, Door Prizes and Ice Cream Social Oh My!
The National QOV Foundation holds a national sew-in day which not only includes the U.S but also Canada,
Australia and the U.K.! It will be held annually on the first Saturday of February. This year the guild’s QOV bee
lead by Barbara Baxter, will host the quarterly workday and observe this QOV tradition. In addition to QOV
projects, we will assist Gwen Goldsberry with projects for VA Voluntary Services.
If you are a QOV member - Click HERE for Member Registration
Not yet a QOV member, Click HERE for Non-Member Registration
Logon to register for door prizes awarded by the National QOV Foundation! Need not be a member of QOV
to register for prizes. It’s their fun way of counting how many people actually participate.
Please plan on attending as we are having our own door prizes, a potluck salad luncheon and we will reveal
the day’s accomplishments during an ice cream social. Bring your sewing machine and basic sewing supplies. Life
happens! Come and go as needed, we’re glad for the help pressing, making kits, cutting and sewing.
June 6, 2020 Saturday, Workday, FUMC Music Room 10 a.m. – 4 p.m.
Please save the date. (Ear marked for Quilts for Kids and Project Linus projects)

Coastal Prairie Quilt Guild Minutes of the December 16, 2019 Board Meeting
Approved January 13, 2020 The meeting was called to order by Debbie Garner, President at 10:01 am at First United Methodist Church in Missouri City.
Board Members in attendance: Debbie Garner, Diane Hickey, Kay Paul, Grace Clarke, Barbara
Young, Lisa Patterson, Angela Duffy, Cathy Price, Linda Green and Diama Cortez. A quorum was
present. Committee Members in attendance: Jodie Douglass, Helen Wilems and Gwen Goldsberry.
The Minutes of the November 2019 Board meeting were approved as emailed. The Treasurer’s Report for November 2019 was approved as emailed. President Report: Debbie Garner suggested that at the General Meeting/Holiday Party for December 19th, if all could arrive at 9am to help set up the tables. Old Business: Debbie Garner reported that the Standing Rules Committee will meet around the first of the year to review the standing rules. Charity Questionnaire: Lisa Patterson reported that the questionnaire will go out this week. Lisa said there would be 3 questions on the survy and the ability to rank the charities. New Business: Debbie Garner reported for Barbara Wall on retreat payment options, such as sign-up genius and the Square. Barbara Young said that sign- up genius charged a 1% of total charge and Grace Clarke said the Square would have to be a convenience charge not a bank fee. Lisa Patterson made a motion to use the Square for guild member’s purchases and Kay Paul second the motion. Discussion on the convenience charge and what to charge: it was decided to charge $10 convenient charge to use the Square, all agreed. Debbie suggested that a chart should be made with the additional charges/fees when members use a credit card. Linda Green said she would start bringing the Square to the general meetings. Debbie said we would not meet for lunch after todays’ meeting due to everyone is busy with their holiday shopping and preparations. Debbie stated that she would like to start a Long Arm Sharing program for members working on charity quilts and she will have a sign-up sheet at the general meetings. Debbie check with Sakeena Mubashshir on using some of her budget to buy fabric for Community Service. Quilt N Sew had a closing sale and had fabric 75% off, Sakeena said that would be fine. Board/Committee Reports: President-elect: Lisa Patterson reported that the church outreach (FUMC) is collecting for December knit-ted scarfs and hats and in January they are collecting pet food and pet beds in various sizes.
