What is a Wave-cut Platform?A wave-cut platform is the
gently sloping expanse of rock created by a retreating cliff.
It is mostly formed in areas where the foot of the cliff is composed of soft, less-resistant rock like chalk and limestone.

Formation of a Wave-cut PlatformWhen the wave slams against the foot of the cliff, a small indentation called a wave-cut notch is formed.
As time goes on, the notch enlarges until the cliff above it collapses. The position where the cliff once stood is the wave-cut platform.

Bat’s Head (Southeast of England)This Wave-cut platform is located in the southeast of England, on the Dorset Coast.
It is composed mainly of chalk, and the most prominent form of erosion is attrition and corrosion.
