At the moment of me, Coastal Erosion has become a major problem of the coasts worldwide

especially to our country. It is having a negave impact on housing, shing, tourism and other aspects of

the economy. Coastal erosion is the wearing a way of land and the removal of beach or dune sediments

by wave acon, dal currents, wave currents, or drainage (see also beach evoluon). Waves, generated

by storms, wind, or fast moving motor cra, cause coastal erosion, which may take the form of long-term

    losses of sediment and rocks.

There is important to know about the coastal erosion especially how the coastal erosion

occurred and factors that inuence the erosion rate. The main ideas of coastal erosion process are

corrosion, arion, soluon and hydraulic acon. Firstly, corrosion process is when materials carried by

waves thrown repeatedly against a coast, they gradually erode the coast. Second, Arion process is

when materials are carried in waves, they collide with one another. Eventually, the materials break down

into smaller pieces and become smoother and more rounded over me. Third, soluon process is a wave

reacts chemically with the soluble minerals in the rocks along the coast and dissolves them. Over me,

the coast becomes weakened and is eroded. Finally, hydraulic acon process is the force of moving water

currents rushing into a crack in the rock face or cli face.

In the other hands, the factors that inuence erosion rates are type of wave, nature of coastal

rock, impact of human acvies and the gradient of the coast. The destrucve waves cause more

erosion those construcve waves which have more powerful backwash than swash. Nature of the coastal

rocks can divided into two terms which are in terms of mineral composion and in term of lines of

weakness. The coasts that are made up of granite, basalt and dolomite are more resistance to erosion

the coast that is made up of limestone, shale and clay. In contrast, the coastal rocks that have more lines

of weakness will be more easily eroded than those with fewer lines of weakness. Next if the gradient of

the coasts are steeper gradient, it will be tended to collapse faster. Lastly, human through their acvies

can speed up the process of coastal erosion for example construcon work nearly the coastal area.

Related to conservaonCoastal conservaon is used throughout the world for many dierent purposes. It is a general term that

refers to any acvity taking place in the coastal zone, which has a specic purpose. It includes

management for nature conservaon which protecon from coastal erosion and ooding amongst a

wide range of other human uses. There are many techniques of coastal conservaon including "hard"

and "so" construcon and planning approaches. Hard construcon is the more tradional response to

erosion and involves the construcon of structures which stop wave energy reaching the shore, or

absorb and reect the energy. The so construcon techniques have become more popular because of

this. These techniques involve promong natural systems such as beaches and salt marshes which

    protect the coast.

    ExamplesCoastal erosion on the World:

An example of a clied coast is in north Wales where over years of the sea beang at the clis the

houses on top have begun collapsing into the sea. With some of them you can even see inside as the

enre backs of some of the houses have come o and have been launched over the cliop that has

been torn through by the ferocious sea.

The California coast, which has so clis of sedimentary rock and is heavily populated, regularly has

incidents of housing damage as clis erode. Damage in Pacica is shown at le. Devil's Slide, Santa

Barbara and Malibu are regularly aected.

    Coastal erosion in Malaysia:

PART of Muar's coastline, including 20 hectares of coastal farmland, has eroded since ve years ago. The

farms once belonged to residents who culvated prawns and other aquaculture produce. Now the farms

have been literally swept into the straits of Malacca. The eroded farmland spans 15 kilometers along the

coastline, from Parit Penyengat to the Muar-Batu Pahat border. Parit Bulat Laut and Seri Menan Laut

are the worst hit, while much of the coastal forests were also lost.

OpinionBased on my opinion, the coastal erosion problem should be taken seriously to prevent undesirable

things especially to our beloved country. All sides must work together in order to solve this problem and

ensure the problem does not recur in the future years. From what is seen, coastal erosion caused by the

natural disasters but involvement of unplanned human acvies has given serious implicaons to our

coastal area which has aected the economic the socio-economic acvies along coast-side. So, I hope

everyone should take responsibilies to protect our beloved country for the next future generaon.
