QuestionsFor information on this years race please contact the Newport Recreation Center at (541) 265-7783. Or stop in at Bike Newport (541) 265-9917.

Ben Eder Ben Eder was the co-founder of the original race in 1996, and his family and friends were involved with the original race as volunteers and sponsors for many years. He was tragically lost at sea in a crabbing accident a number of years ago. Even though this is a new event we want to celebrate its origins and the people who made it happen, including Ben Eder.

Thank youBig thank you to Dave Campbell and others for allow-ing us to use the name “Coast Hills Classic” and for all their help getting us started. Also this race crosses land that is predominantly privately owned, so a big thanks to Will Emery, Spike Jones, and Hancock Timber Resource Group, and the Oregon Coast Community College.

Presented by Bike Newport & City of NewportMedia Sponsor: Newport Newstimes

May 6th 2012, Newport OregonFeaturing $1500 in total cash prizes!

We have an awesome course designed with gorgeous ocean views, meadows, sick down hill, gnarly single track, killer climbs, and what’s sure to be a wet & muddy course!

This event is being brought to life by a public-private partner-ship in the true spirit of community. Bike Newport, the Newport News-times and other local volunteers are volunteering along-side staff from the Newport Parks and Recreation Department to breath new life into this old race, formerly known as the Ben Eder Memorial. Proceeds from the event will go towards the youth programs scholarship fund at the Newport Recreation Center. Which allows children from economically disadvan-taged households the opportunity to participate in a number of fantastic programs.

Packet Pick-up/ Pre-race partyRogue will be sponsoring a pre-race party and packet pick-up from 5-7pm at Bike Newport on May 5th. This will be a Cinco de Mayo theme featuring the famous bicycle powered margarita blender.Bike Newport is located on the corner of 6th and 101 in Newport. 150 NW 6th st. (behind Pro-Build)
