Summer, 2017 COALITION EDITION Do you know the Coalition? Since you are receiving our newsletter, I hope you “know” the Coalition! But all too often, there is confusion regarding our services or those the Coalition helps. We recently began an informational campaign themed “Did you know….” with the hope of dispelling some frequent misconceptions. Just in case you missed it, here are a few points of interest: The Coalition provides food to over 500 residents each month, including perishable and nonperishable items to feed the family for up to seven days. The Coalition offers temporary assistance after a divorce, death of a spouse, or reduction in employment. Services include food, clothing, rent aid, and utility assistance. Clothing items donated to The Coalition Resale Shops help provide seasonal clothing for all ages to qualified families. Last year we provided clothes to almost 5,000 people! Most residents we serve are employed. They simply need temporary assistance to get through challenging times. In addition to standard services, the Coalition offers transportation, mentoring programs as well as employment and budget counseling. For as little as four hours a month, our volunteers are making a difference in the lives of their neighbors in need. If you have time to give, call today to schedule a tour! The Coalition was established to coordinate available resources and assistance provided to Moore County families in need. If you know someone who might benefit from our services, please encourage them to visit our Client Services Center or call (910) 693-1600 for more information.
