Discovering Diamonds
Dear Parents,
Thank you to everyone for a wonderful Science Night on January 23rd. As usual, it was a huge success! We appreciate the collaboration with North Forsyth High School students and teachers. It is truly remarkable the learning and fun that happens every day!
Kindergarten registration is here! Parents are asked to make an
appointment at the Hill Center. Early morning and evening
appointments will be available to accommodate various parent
schedules. Please refer any questions to the Kindergarten Roundup
webpage: https://www.forsyth.k12.ga.us/KKroundup. Information is
also posted on our website. We appreciate any help you can give us in
communicating this to our families with rising Kindergarteners.
Please remind your students to check the Lost & Found. We still have
quite a collection. As soon as the weather clears up, we will have new
equipment on the K-2 Playground and we all know they will want
their coats for that!
As always, thank you for your support and communication.
Warmest Regards,
Kimberly Davis

Our annual Jump Rope for Heart event was kicked-off with an informational assembly on
Friday, January 19. Students were introduced to our own little heart hero, kindergarten student
Mallory Hall. Mallory received a heart transplant on December 6, 2014 and her family was
more than willing to share her story in hopes of educating our students on the importance of
heart health. You can read about her heart journey on our school website.
Students who feel led to join the fight against heart disease with the American Heart
Association are encouraged to collect donations (online, check or cash) from people they know
(family, friends, church friends, neighbors, ball park friends, local businesses, etc.). Donations
are tax deductible and go towards research and education that saves lives. In addition, our
school can earn money for PE equipment and your child can earn prizes that encourage him or
her to keep up with the good work for heart health.
All students, regardless of whether or not they have collected donations will participate in
a JRFH celebration in their regularly scheduled PE class the week of February 5 – 9. If you are
able to come to this celebration and help turn the long rope for your child’s class, please
email me at [email protected] and I’ll get a schedule to you. Thank you!

Birthday / Special Occasion Book Club
We will be changing our birthday / special occasion book club at Coal Mountain. This is a
great way to help out our school library and at the same time honor the birthday / special
occasion of your child. At the beginning of your child’s birthday / special occasion month, your
child will be able to choose a book from a special new book collection. The book will receive a
unique inscription inside with your child’s name and birth date. Your child will be the very first
to check it out from the library. In addition, a picture will be taken of your child with their book
and hung on the Birthday/Special Occasion Book Club display in the lunchroom. (We will honor June and July birthdays / special occasions in May, and next years
August birthdays / special occasions in September.)
Please complete the form and return it with $17.00.
(Checks made out to Coal Mountain Elementary and please include your phone number on the check)
All Birthday / Special Occasion Book Club Donations are due by the end of the month before your child’s
birthday / special occasion.
