REGIONAL TRANSIT SERVICEOVERVIEW
Current Transit Service
CET Provides 4 Types of Service:
1. Fixed Route System in Bend– 7 Routes– 40-minute “headways”– Spoke and hub: all routes converge at Hawthorne• Provides maximum coverage with limited funding• Means lots of transfers

2. Local Public Bus Service– Varying service areas – most extend well past cities’ limits– Curb-to-curb service– Rides require reservation at least 24 hours/advance– Culver La Pine, Madras, Metolius, Prineville = 7am to
5:30pm, M-F– Redmond = 6:30am to 6:00 pm, M-F– Sisters = 9am to 3:30 pm, Tuesdays only

3. Community Connector Shuttles– (20) Warm Springs-Madras: Up to 6 round-trips/day; fixed sched.– (21) Culver-Metolius-Madras: Up to 6 trips/day; require
reservation– (22) Madras-Redmond: Up to 7 round-trips/day; some fixed– (23) Airporter (NEW): Connects Redmond hub to Airport; requires
reservation– (26) Redmond-Prineville: Up to 7 round-trips/day; some fixed– (28) Sisters-Redmond: Up to 6 round-trips/day; req. reservation– (24) Redmond-Bend: 8 round-trips/day; fixed schedule– (30) La Pine – Bend: Up to 6 round-trips/day; req. reservation.

4. Special Seasonal Services• “Mountain Service” to Mount Bachelor
– Coming this season; transit stop at Meissner Sno-Park• “Ride the River” Service for Deschutes River floaters in Bend

Funding Challenges
• Need to develop 50% local match for federal grants, but local sources are diminishing– BETC phasing out– PEP gone, DHS gone, COCOA ½ former level– City of Bend commitment to $1 million in local match/year
expires in 2015• Makes it very difficult to spend time improving the
system (chasing $)• Difficult to plan for future service. • Driving potential service cutbacks to regional system over
next two yearsLINK
