Well, what a Spring we have have had!!! BEAUTIFUL!!

Junior High Track and Field Meet is scheduled to be held on Monday, May 27th from 8:30am-

3:00pm at Foote Field.

If you would like to VOLUNTEER… Please contact Mr. Peel email: jaret.peel@ecsd.net. This

information is being shared with the Physical Education Classes. On the Day of our track meet, please

make sure that your child is dressed appropriately for this event; including a hat and sunscreen or

warm clothes/umbrella depending on the weather. Also ensure they bring their lunches and enough

drinks so that they are well nourished and hydrated for the whole day. Athletes who qualify from our

School Track Meet will move onto zones Friday May 31thth (Rollie Miles Field) and then to the City

Championships on Monday June 10th (Rollie Miles Field).

Special Congratulations to the Junior High PE Staff (Bob Faught, Shauna

Muskego, Melissa O’Connor and Stephanie Leithoff), Mark Klopoushak(Video

and Tech Support) for an outstanding Track and Field Opening Ceremonies.

Much thanks to Mrs. Doreen Ryan (Competed in the 1960 and 1964 Winter

Olympics in Speed Skating) for her wonderful speech and help in Opening the

Games!!

Junior High Badminton Team is concluding their season with the players entering playoffs

starting next week. LSL has qualified for Boys Singles (Carson Fidyk) and Girls Doubles (Rhiana Bassig

and Jenny Libunao) for the Division 1 Semi/Final City Championships that takes place Tuesday April

30th at St. Joseph High School. Thank you to Marc Lapierre for coaching this Team. Good luck!!

Junior High Slow Pitch is under way and big thank you to Mr. Bob Faught for coaching this year.

The team competes from the beginning of May to the middle of June.

High School Track and Field under the direction of Mrs. Fay Henry, Mrs. Jacylyn Lewis, Mr.

Jaret Peel and Mr. Tay Nsaliwa, track is underway with their first Mini Meet on May 8th , Divisional

Meet on May 15th and the Edmonton Zone Track and Field Meet on May 23rd (All meets at Foote

Field). The Provincial Championships are hosted June 7-8th in Calgary, Alberta. Good luck to our

Track and Field athletes.

Varsity Soccer is here. Teams have been picked and the league play is slotted for the first week of

May. Best of luck to our Barons and their coaches. The season is quick, so come out and cheer on the

teams. Thank you to Ms. Alessia Schiavon who is coaching the Varsity Men’s Team. Also, back by

popular demand we will be running a Varsity Women’s Team this year coached by Mr. Leon

Vandendooren and Mr. Mark Klopoushak. Special Thanks for your transportation specialist Ms.

Angela Costanzo.

Metro Zone Badminton Championships Congratulations to, Jacyn Tan for finishing 4th

SPORTFACTOR METRO ALLSTARS congratulations to Liam Frost (Varsity Men

Volleyball - DIV II) and Clarissa Cortez (Varsity Women Volleyball – DIV III) for

being recognized by the Metro Athletics as League Allstars. What an honor!

They will be attending an Athletic Banquet on May 29th at the Chateau Louis to

receive their award. Also, congrations to Jaret Peel for being recognized as

COACH of the Year for Varisty Men Volleyball Division II League… he too will be

represented at the ALLStar Banquet!!

HIGH SCHOOL Athletic Awards Banquet This year’s banquet will be held on

Thursday June 6th here at the school. Once again, this evening is held as an

opportunity to celebrate the participation of ALL of our High School athletes;

their successes, memorable moments, and the friendships built through their

involvement in sport. All high School athletes are invited and encouraged to

attend. Tickets will be available in the Phys Ed Office beginning May 13th, and

those planning to attend MUST pick up a ticket so we know how many people

are coming. We are limited to 200 people this year. They are FREE for athletes.

Parents may purchase tickets from the business office at a cost of $30 and are

most welcome to attend! We look forward to seeing you at this celebration of

our Year in Athletes!
