Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) Provider Course
Neonatal resuscitation program (NRP) is an evidence-based simulation training to improve the resuscitation
of the newborn. The causes, prevention, and management of mild to severe neonatal asphyxia are carefully
explained so that health professionals could develop optimal knowledge and skill in resuscitation. This is the
first American Academy of Pediatric (AAP) accredited NRP courses outside US.
Topics included: Overview and principles in neonatal resuscitation
Initial steps in neonatal resuscitation
Use of resuscitation bag, mask, neo Puff and Oxygen blender.
Chest compression
Endotracheal intubation and Laryngeal Mask Airway (LMA) insertion
Medication and Umbilicus Venous Catheterization (UVC)
Specials consideration
Resuscitation of baby born preterm
Simulation Scenarios
Team dynamics in neonatal resuscitation.
Teaching team: Neonatologists, Pediatric Nurses and Midwives.
Target participant: Doctors and nurses
Length: 1 day (0845 - 1800)
Venue: Accident & Emergency Training Centre, 3/F Tang Shiu Kin Hospital Community Ambulatory Care
Centre, 282 Queen's Road East, Wan Chai, Hong Kong.
CNE / CNE: available (various between college)
Language: Cantonese, English video, textbook
Certificate: American Academy of Pediatrics NRP completion card (valid for 2 years)
Course fee: $2000 (included textbook and online exam code), free for doctors in HA paediatric
departments.
Assessment:
Written: Pre-course online exam (50 MCQ, divided into 2 parts, passing marks 80% of each part, 4 eSim
cases).
Practical: As a leader to lead a neonatal resuscitation ( textbook check list p.208-211 )

1. Divide into 5 groups: Pediatricians; Pediatric nurse; Midwives; A&E and Others.
2. Further divide into different hospital (The hospital with delivery room or NICU will have priority).
