ENERGY REGULATIONS IN BUILDING CODES DR. RANIA BASHEER
CHAIRPERSON OF INTERIOR DESIGN,
JUBAIL UNIVERSITY COLLEGE
Energy saving regulation in green building
codes, which play an essential role in promoting
the development of green buildings, have
attracted much attention in recent years. This
workshop designed to describe current
approaches to encourage energy efficiency in
building codes and to study the minimum
requirements for the energy efficient design set
by international codes. All supporting strategies
to help implementing the energy policy will be
included in the discussion.
The workshop also aim to define the process of
building energy audit, present best practices
and give a case study of a suggested renovation
project for a building to explain the significant
result in energy saving. The case study will
assess the current energy consumption and
create action plan on how to reduce
consumption using a simulation model. The
workshop outcomes would serve as a useful
reference for both industry practitioners,
academics and policy makers who are
interested in the development of green
building codes by adding energy regulations.
COMMISSIONING OF LEED BUILDINGS
TAREQ OBEIDO
EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR
EVOLUTION ENGINEERING SERVICES
The presentation will explain the benefits
of commissioning which include reduced
energy use, lower operating costs, fewer
contractor callbacks, better building
documentation, improved occupant
productivity, and verification that the
systems are functioning in accordance to
design requirements. Fundamental
Building Commissioning is a prerequisite
requirement under the Energy and
Atmosphere module, also a building can
achieve up to 6 credits under the Enhanced
Commissioning credit. The presentation
will also detail the commissioning process
scope of work and activities that are
needed to be completed to achieve the
Fundamental and Enhanced
commissioning requirements of LEED
Buildings.
