This booklet highlights many of the services available at TheBrenner Jewish Community Centre at Raine House. Theseinclude a number of activities, ranging from arts and crafts,discussion groups and entertainment to our communityfriendship groups, women-only Pilates and culture club sessions(pages 6-9).
We offer many support services to the local community. Ourhome care service enables older people to remain independentin their own homes. The Kadimah Centre for Wellbeing (JAMI)offers care, support and advice for those with mental healthneeds (pages 10-11).
You can enjoy a meat meal in our kosher café (under Kedassialicence), and visit our kosher shop for all your essentials.
Every Friday, join our Shabbat experience lunch for only £6where there is soup and a roast dinner, plus activities.Transport is also available (page 4).
Do think about supporting us by generously donating a fewhours of your time volunteering and helping others. Alternativelybecome a ‘Friend of Brenner’ and help us raise much-neededfunds to keep our services running (pages 11-15).

Kosher CaféEnjoy our kosher café and have a meat lunchwith family and friends.All food is prepared freshly on site underKedassia supervisionOpen Monday- Thursday, 12- 1.30pm,
Fridays, 12-1.30pm
Shabbat ExperienceJoin us every Friday for our Shabbatexperience: lunch, challah and blessings foronly £6. This includes a two-course chickenkneidlach soup and a roast chicken dinnerplus all the centre’s activities. Transport isavailable at a cost of £1.50 each way.
Join our monthly Friday Night Dinners atAJEX house, for a Shabbat meal service andcandle lighting. Enjoy a three-course roastdinner and refreshments for £12.Booking is essential

Kosher ShopOur kosher shop is available at yourconvenience for you to purchase all youressentials. We stock a range of kosher food,challah, smoked salmon, along withhousehold essentials such as Shabbat andmemorial candles, simcha cards, and more.Open Monday-Thursday

The SalonVisit our salon where you can get pamperedby our qualified and trained beautytherapists and hairdressers. Many servicesavailable including facials, manicures, hairtreatments and chiropodist appointmentsare available monthly.Booking appointments is recommended.
The LibraryRelax in a comfy chair and enjoy a selectionof good books in our library. We offer alending service for you to borrow the booksat home. The Centre offers creative writingsessions, book club and workshops. For moreinformation contact our switchboard.Open Monday-Friday

TransportAs part of Jewish Care we have our ownmodern buses which are able to takemembers to and from the centre each dayfor only £1.50 each way*. We also arrangetrips to local shopping centres andsupermarkets on our buses. Book transportwith a member of staff.*Subject to availability and meeting the criteria.
TripsThe centre organises a number of tripsthroughout the year, from museum and artgallery visits, theatre trips, days out at theseaside to Brick Lane Music Hall and more.Booking is essential. Look out for the nexttrip in the ‘time in’ guide or sign up at thecentre.
EntertainmentEnjoy the sounds of our singers andentertainers in the main hall and join inwith our sing-along sessions.2.00-3.00pm
Themed daysAs well as trips, entertainment and activitieswe offer many fun themed days and eventsin the centre including French Day, SouthAmerican Day, mock seders, lighting theChanukah candles and blowing the shofar.

If you are interested in learning how to use acomputer, write a letter, shop online, surf theinternet or video chat with family livingabroad, and then why not join our computerclasses? You can book in a group session oron a one-to-one basis with our volunteers.

HOME CARE
Helping youJewish Care homecare service offers thehighest quality of care and can help you toremain living independently in your ownhome. We offer a personal approach andcan accompany you on shopping trips,theatre trips, appointments and more. Ourhome care service can also help with mealtimes and light housework.
Services can include:� Personal care – support with washing,
bathing and dressing� Support with continence and toileting
needs� Support with meal preparations� Support with prompting and monitoring
medication� Help with essential cleaning, shopping
pension and prescription collection aspart of a full care package
� Support in preparing Shabbat and highholy days

The Kadimah Centre for WellbeingKadimah supported by Jami and JewishCare, provides care, support and advice forJewish people aged 18 and over who areexperiencing problems with their mentalhealth.
The centre provides a wide range of socialand therapeutic services to support theindividual needs of people leadingtowards independence and socialinclusion. The centre offers a recoverybased programmes and services whichpeople can access based on theirindividual needs. Not all services are centrebased.

Become a volunteerVolunteers are a vital part of the Jewish Careteam, we couldn’t do what we do withoutthem. There are over 3000 volunteers whogenerously give their time to bring hugeamounts of warmth and a range of skills toour centres and clubs.
Whether you are in full-time education,working full or part-time, taking a careerbreak or are retired, we have a wide range ofvolunteering opportunities for you at yourlocal Jewish Care centre.
New volunteers are always welcomed,supported and provided with relevant trainingand by giving a few hours of your time to helpus, you can make a big difference.

Become a memberCommunity centre membership costs £24 peryear. Members benefit from a daily reducedentry fee of £5 (£6 for non members).As a member you can benefit from all ourfacilities, which include:
� A café offering delicious kosher meals, (undersupervision of the Kedassia), vegetarianoptions, snacks, drinks, cakes and desserts.
� A salon with trained beauty therapists andhairdressers.
� Varied afternoon entertainment, showcasinga range of music, dance and guest speakers.
� A library to read or relax in.
� A shop with a wide selection of kosherproducts, cards and gifts.
� A selection of trips throughout the year.
� Communal celebrations of Jewish festivals.
We also offer a fleet of wheelchair accessiblemini buses, driven by our qualified drivers, tohelp you get to and from the centre . This servicecan be booked subject to availability andmeeting the criteria, at a cost of £1.50 each way.
