TERMS RELATED TO PERSONALITY DISORDERS• Personality disorders

Personality disorders are conditions in which an individual differs significantly from an average person, in terms of how they think, perceive, feel or relate to others. People with personality disorders often have other mental health problems, especially depression and substance misuse

• Substance abuse

Abuse or addiction of an abused drug, it is actually due to chronic or habitual use of any substance which may alter states of body or mind taken for other than medically warranted purposes.

• Substance induced personality disorders

These refer to the mental health disorders that can co-occur with substance abuse.  Common and very serious psychological problems associated with chronic substance abuse include manic depression, attention deficit and hyperactivity disorder, schizophrenia, generalized anxiety disorder, obsessive-compulsive disorder, panic disorder, and post-traumatic stress disorder.

EVALUATION OF PERSONALITY DISORDERSMETHODOLOGY

• To evaluate personality disorders in individuals a questionnaire based survey was conducted to collect the data. There were 52 filled forms received from which 12 forms were incomplete and were excluded. Therefore, the data obtained from population size (N = 40). The age of targeted population was between 15 to 70 years with chronic substance abuse or addiction.

• Mostly, drug abuse or addicted by patient includes Heroin, Cannabis, Amphetamine, Alcohol, Phenyl-cyclidine (crystal, angel dust), Cocaine Bhang and Sheesha smoking which contain nicotine and caffeine.

• According to our collected data it is found that most of the drug addicts lies in the age limit of 26-35years i.e. about 40%of the people more exposed to drug addiction than the other specified age limits as given in the table.

CONCLUSIONDrug addiction will increase the danger of variety of negative life stressors and conditions, notably if left untreated properly. Users may not be aware that their behavior is out of control and causing problems for themselves and others. Substance-induced disorders are distinct from independent co-occurring mental disorders in that all or most of the psychiatric symptoms are the direct result of substance use.
