THE ROBOT REVOLUTION CNH KEY CLUB
¡HOLA BLUE ROBOTS! Did the Hogwarts Express leave you as well? It’s okay, you have nothing to be sad about! Region Training Conference 2013 is coming up in about 2 weeks and that is going to be a magical experience of itself! As we get back into the flow of school and tests, it will be a great time to take a break from everything so I want all of you to attend! What do you have to lose? I know that this may be a very stressful time for all of you as most of you begin your new school years or being getting new members from your club rush. It may seem really overwhelming at the moment, but I promise you, all of the hard work that you put into everything will be worth it. It may seem overwhelming but this is it, this is the most active part of your terms. This quarter is one of the most crucial ones: member recruitment and member retention will play a huge part into helping you have a GOLDEN year! The best way is to BEE involved! Get more fundraising done, get more service hours, get more members to division events! This month’s e-bulletin comes to you packed with a lot of new information to help you get through these busy times as we try to balance academics, extra-curricular, and Key Club properly so that we can leave a GOLDEN legacy! If you need any help, personal, Key Club related, or academic, do not hesitate to contact me!

CHALLENGE OF THE MONTH Each month, I will post a challenge that I would like for you to
complete. This isn’t mandatory, but it would be awesome if all of you
could do it! I want to get to know you better as a leader and a
person.
How do you plan to manage time with your academics and
your Key Club work?
GOLDEN GOALS As ONE division, we aim to have
membership growth of 50%.
As clubs we want to work together
to contribute $2000 for MNT and
PTP division-wide.
We want to promote each
member to save 3 lives from
MNT ($5.40).
We want to work together to bring
higher attendance at division
events (DCMs, Fundraisers),
district events (Fall Rally, DCON)
and international events
(ICON).
We want to serve 10,900 hours.
Together, we can work together to
make this a GOLDEN year!

The KEY to Communication Effective communication is the KEY to a
successful year. As leaders of the clubs you
serve, all of you must actively keep open
communication between each other (the
officers), the members you serve, the advisors
who support you, and the Lieutenant Governor
who serves you. Without effective
communication, it is going to be very difficult to
manage time and keep everything in track as
all of you will have various tasks to complete,
deadlines to meet, and other obstacles that will
be coming your way. Building that personal
bond is the most important thing you can do.
Become close friends with everyone and they
will not forget you and will respect you instead
of looking up at you or
looking down on you. HELLO With the growth of technology and social
media, there are SO many ways for you to
constantly keep updated with everyone so here
are a few that you might want to try out!
This is a great tool that is made for teachers
but of course you can sign up as well. Cre-
ate an account, add members, and it will
allow you to send one way reminders to
everyone who is subscribing! It is easy to
create an account and extremely effective
when events are coming up! Get it now on
the App Store!

Group texting is a great way to keep connected
and keep everyone in the loop but not everyone
has a phone that’s capable! With GroupMe you
can create group texting for every phone! This
easy to use application is very helpful and avail-

WHAT IS PTP? Pediatric Trauma Program (PTP) is a program
that was established in 1994 by Cal-Nev-Ha
Kiwanis to help raise education and training in
pediatric trauma and prevention injury. This is
our Cali-Nev-Ha Key Club District project and
all funds raised to this go to help buy Lieuten-
ant Governors at the annual Fall Rally auction
where all of the LTGs are put up for auction
and bought by the winning division that raises
the most money! The money we raise helps
saves many lives because pediatric trauma
#1 killer of children under 14 in the US and 90%
of those deaths are preventable!
WHAT IS OUR DIVISION GOAL? To help our district with its goal of raising
$146,000 by the end of the year, our division
has set a goal to raise $2000 by Fall Rally North
(October 19). This means if each club raised
$200 each, we could easily reach our goals!
The more money you have the more chances
you have to buy the LTG!

YOUTH OPPORTUNITIES FUND WHAT ARE YOF Grants? The Youth Opportunities Fund (YOF) is an endowed fund for Key Club In-ternational held within the Kiwanis International Foundation. The YOF fund uses earned interest to help Key Clubbers serve the world by providing grants for service opportunities. Every year, fifty cents from each member's dues payment as well as the G. Harold Martin Fellowships help to fund this grant. Please note that this grant is a reimbursement process, so you do have to front the money. The YOF grant application is due on October 15th, 2013; no late submissions will be accepted! The application may be mailed, faxed, or e-mailed.
WHO CAN APPLY? Any club that is in good standing
(has dues paid and is not suspended
or inactive) can apply. Please note
that the YOF is intended for pro-
jects at the club level; applications
for division-wide or interclub pro-
jects will be rejected!
WHAT IS THE APPLICATION LIKE? QUICK AND EASY, FOLLOW THE LINK:
http://keyclub.org/service/fund/yof/yofgrant.aspx
STATISTICS & RESOURCES Last year, only 3 clubs in all of the Cali-Nev-Ha District received funds from the YOF be-cause they were the only ones who applied! Applications almost never get rejected, so if you have a project coming up that you need extra funding for, do not hesitate and go apply!
Applications must be submitted to: Kiwanis International 3636 Woodview Trace Indianapolis, IN USA, 46268
DIVISION COUNCIL MEETING

What is a Division Council Meeting?
A Division Council Meeting (DCM) is a meeting conducted by the
LTG for the members in the division. This meeting is full of information
about upcoming events, education about Key Club, and much more.
At DCMs, you have a chance to learn more
about various projects and events, gain a
better understanding of how great this
organization truly is, and to get involved with the division and meet
new people. We encourage you to attend so that
you can learn more about what’s been happening
in Key Club. Some DCMs are even joined with a
service project, fundraiser, or social, so you can be
there for more than one reason!
When are they held?
DCMs are held once a month,
every month. They are held in various locations and for various rea-
sons. They can be paired with socials, events, training, or fundraisers
to help you get involved while you bond and get a great leadership
experience! DCMs are required for distinguished
so make sure that you attend and get the as
many members to attend as
possible! They will be an-
nounced early so you are informed!

Throughout all of our terms this year, we are going to be faced
with a lot of it.. STRESS. Seniors have to deal with college appli-
cations, retaking the SATs, dealing with senioritis, and many
other problems. While juniors are dealing with hard schedules
and taking these tests for the first time. Sophomores must deal
with the stress of CAHSEEs and other problems that come with it
only being the second year and freshman are newly adjusting
to high school. No matter what the grade level, we all have
school stress. Not only that but we also deal with social stress,
family stress, and personal stress that we put on ourselves. Man-
aging all of this with the stress that comes with leading a Key
Club, can be very overwhelming at times but you know what?
You can make it, you will make it, you are strong, and here is
why. You were given this leadership position for a reason, the
members you serve trusted you to lead them and you will not let
them down. You have a passion and dedication for this organi-
zation that will push you to new limits. You have a strong and
large support team consisting of your fellow board members,
myself, your advisors, and all of your friends and family to help
you through these times. When managing time gets tough you
have applications such as StayFocusd, Cold Turkey, sleepyti.me,
Clear, Reminders, and so much more on your phone and com-
puters to help you through this. Look at you, and all you have
already achieved, guess what, it’s only been 5 months! Do you
see how far you’ve gotten in just these past few months! I want
you all to know that whenever, or wherever you need, your sup-
port team and your #1 fanboy 5ever (me) is here for you.
Whether it be for school, family, friends, key club, or you just
need someone to talk to, my contact information is here for you
to call, text, message, email, or whatever when you need! Just
stay strong, although things can get overwhelming, you will
make it through this and just in 5 more months, you will be at
your own club elections, electing your new board as you reflect
back on all of the greatness that you have achieved. Do not let
failures and mistakes hit you hard, we all make them, just grow
from them. Stress is a big bully, but only if you let it. The most im-
portant thing is to enjoy this moment and to have fun because
this moment that you have right now, will never ever come
back again. It is yours to control, you can do whatever you
want with it, just make the best of it. Here is to 8 more amazing
months as we continue to make this a golden year. You have all
improved and grown so much and I cannot wait to see more of
it happen, I cannot wait to see you walk on stage and get
awards while I cheer you on at DCON 2013. If you read this, I
love you, Stay Golden!
Something new that we are going to start
between the presidents and the me is a
monthly phone call! This call will give us a
chance to freely express our ideas, commu-
nicate and help each other out! They are
planned to take place in the middle of each
month so that we can reflect on what has
already passed and plan for what is coming
ahead! We will be discussing things such as:
the strengths of the club, the weaknesses of
the club, areas of growth, areas of weakness,
problems each club is facing, self-
evaluations and so much more! This will give
us all a chance to bond better, be proactive,
and be more informed! I cannot wait to start
this and receive personal feed-
back with each and every one
of you!
Something else that I plan on starting this
month is a system of bi-weekly update
emails! These emails will be a better way of
maintaining better communication! Com-
pared to long monthly emails that might
overwhelm you, these emails will help me,
help you stay updated with the latest infor-
mation and help you get the information as
quick as possible. This will grow our communi-
cation between our board and our division
as well! If you are reading this, when you sub-
mit your challenge of the month, please re-
spond on if you think this will be a good idea
and what you would like to see included, I
love to hear your feedback!
