Hello Fellow Track Day Participants,

As we prepare for the Carrera Motors Porsche Driving Experience, please consider the following

information as a helpful guide as you plan your day with us.

Travel to Oregon Raceway Park: Allow 2 hours from Club Carrera to ORP. We must be at race track

by 7:30 am with on-track instruction starting shortly thereafter. Please do not be late.

We plan to leave Club Carrera (1045 SE 3rd Street in Bend, Oregon) at 5:30 am sharp. We will have a

light breakfast and coffee beforehand, so show up a little early if you want some food prior to the drive

to ORP. We will serve both a lunch and a BBQ dinner at the track.

Please bring your helmet if you have one (motorcycle full-face helmets are acceptable), gloves if you

want them, sunscreen, camp chairs, sunglasses / driving glasses, snack food and anything else to help

you stay comfortable. There will be plenty of on-track time, usually more than you will want, so pace

yourself as the day goes on.

We will provide some shade, water and a few chairs but if you are planning to bring some guests, please

make sure they have sun protection.

Adult guests are welcome to participate in the Porsche-vehicle ride-alongs.

Oregon Raceway Park Track Notes (also see attached track map)

These track notes created by Michael Lord, Lead Instructor, ProFormance Racing School. They represent a

work in progress as ProFormance continues their study of Oregon Raceway Park.

Turn 1: Classic right hander that opens up nicely on exit. Be patient and smooth with the throttle.

Turn 2: Brake and shift early to set car. Turn in at end of curb at the crest of the hill. Slow in/fast out is the rule

here.

Turn 3: Interesting left hand turn. Late apex but earlier than you'd think. Once car has taken a set begin

squeezing on throttle. If you have done it correctly the car will drift out track right and then back track left

without any further input except as necessary to keep the car from going into throttle oversteer. Smooth,

smooth, smooth! Be especially aware of, and play with, the relationship between your throttle and your steering

here. Use the whole track and stay on throttle as car will not like coasting and will spin if you lift. Properly done

you can carry quite a bit of speed through here.

Turn 4: This is a really fun and ultimately very fast off camber turn where you must override your survival

instincts and keep squeezing on throttle. Coming smoothly back to throttle before apex (experiment as to how

much before apex) will hang the rear end out slightly allowing the car to take a nice set that will rotate you

around the turn. Don't lift!!! Stay on throttle!!! Otherwise the car will fell awful. Throttle, properly used, will create

traction. Some cars may be able to ultimately go fully back to throttle through here.

Turn 5: For most cars it will not be necessary to go all the way track right to set this turn up. Once the car has

taken a set you will be flat out pretty quickly and will carry this through turn 6 (for most cars).

Turn 6: It is not necessary to set up turn 6 all the way from the left. Indeed there are some paving seams that

can destabilize the car somewhat on entry. This turn will be flat out for most cars. What makes it scary is that it

is blind so develop a good mental image of what is over the hill to give you the confidence necessary to keep

your foot in it. Make use of the flag station to alert you to any issues over the hill. Upon exiting the turn only useas much run out as necessary track left. Most cars should be able to stay pretty much track right. Play with

your turn-in points until you find what is comfortable for your car.

Turn 7: Stay on throttle into the valley and up the hill towards 8. Refer to notes on turn 8 for exiting the turn.

Turn 8 (the bowl): There are two schools of thought on this turn. One says exit turn 7 a bit to the left (about

1/3-1/2) staying wide up the hill for a single late apex. The other thought is to exit 7 tight to the right up the hill

and only letting it drift wide near the crest before turning into an equally late apex. Be sure to nail this apex andsqueeze on throttle allowing the car to drift out a little bit (maybe 1/3) to the left if it needs to. Allow the car to

come completely track right before completely straightening out the steering wheel and setting up turn 9.

Turn 9 (the horn pipe): Think of turn 9/10 as a quick banked slalom. Smooth committed hands with your

eyes high and wide will pay big dividends here. Late apex then back to throttle allowing the banking hold the

car. Don't stay left too long at exit. Look to the right.

Turn 10: Turn in and apex are earlier than you think. Again take advantage of the banking to hold the car andbe smoothly assertive with your throttle. Be sure to track out all the way track left to set up turn 11. If you have

trouble doing this, if the car doesn't naturally want to use the whole track then you need to turn in and apex

earlier.

Turn 11: Set up all the way from the left with a slightly late apex. Open up the wheel on throttle and let the

car out all the way track left. You can pretty much stay there. Once the wheel is pointed straight you will go

diagonally through turn 12 left to right (thereby eliminating it) to set up turn 13 from track right.

Turn 12: Turn 12 is a non event that really only serves the purpose of getting you from track left back to

track right to set up turn 13. See notes for exiting turn 11.

Turn 13: Tight left hander. Late apex. Slow in/fast out is the rule here. Let the car take a set and then

smooth assertive throttle. Use all the track on the right for exit but do not

completely straighten out your steering wheel until you have gotten all the way

back track left to set up turn 14.

Turn 14: Another late apex. Because of the hill the suspension will be nicely

loaded and the car will quickly take a set after turn in unless you have turned intoo late and or too fast. The hill will also allow you to return fairly aggressively (as

always be smooth) to throttle once the car has taken a set. Open up the wheel and

use the whole track upon exiting the turn.

Turn 15: is a non event taken flat out.

Turn 16: The apex here is probably later than you think. Take your time in finding

the correct turn in point as the exit is slightly off camber and very unforgiving. Ifyou are too early you'll quickly run out of track on the right. If that happens do not

be tempted to return to the track too quickly lest you spin and in so doing become

one with the wall track left. If you turn in too late the car will be bound up and you

will not be able to come back to throttle without risking throttle oversteer (the

usual scenario) or a massive push, depending on how your car is set up. Once you

have found a proper turn-in point you can carry a fair amount of speed through

here but take your time learning this as this is possibly the most risky part of thetrack due to the wall on drivers left.

Relax - by the end of the day this will all make perfect sense.

Pre-Lapping Vehicle Checklist (please perform your own vehicle inspection or have a qualified

shop check these items within a few days of the driving event)

• Tires - even wear, good tread depth, no delaminating chunks, flat spots or cords

• Wheel bearings good (no mechanical wobble in the wheels)

• Lug nuts - verify they are tight

• Brake pedal is firm when pumped a couple times

• Brake lines in good condition (not cracked or ballooned)

• Brake pads - enough pad left for the upcoming day?

• Brake lights working

• Engine hoses and belts in good condition

• Throttle return springs in good condition

• Fluid levels (coolant, oil, transmission, differential, etc.)

• Fluid caps on tight

• No fluid leaks

• Nothing loose on the car body

• Battery tie-down is tight

• Absolutely every loose item in the car taken out. Check on the floor, the dash, under the seats, and in the

trunk. If it's not bolted down, take it out.

• Empty the trunk• Tighten the spare tire, jack, and tools

• If your wheels have any pop-out caps or inserts, take them off

• Tire pressure - be sure to set the cold tire pressures before you drive the car. Generally, you'll want to

set them at least 5 PSI above your normal street pressures.

• Full tank of fuel
