    CMMI Level 2 mainly consists of the following process areas: -

    1. Requirements Management2. Project Planning3. Project Monitoring and Control

    Implementation of PP and PMC process areas in Infosys: - 10 step programme

    1. Gather data on existing project management and tracking practices used within theorganisation.

    2. Access current used practices against PP and PMC and then identifies the gaps.3. Design and/or upgrade the clients project management process to meet PP and PMC

    need.

    4. Design and/or upgrade the clients project plan, project schedule and project trackingspreadsheet templates.

    5. Select individuals in the organisation that we felt would make strong project leads.6. Define roles and responsibilities and then assign this responsibility to this leads.7. Test Run the new CMMI-compliant processes and templates by having the selected

    project leads use these processes as part of implementing one new project.

    8. Gather feedback and update processes and templates as needed.9. Create formal project management training that fully articulates PP and PMC

    processes and templates.

    10.Roll out training across the entire development organisation.Use of CMMI by Infosys: -

    Infosys used CMM to prevent the occurrence of defects and to quantify and modify itssoftware development process project managers working on a particular project could

    access the knowledge repository to find a solution for any problem they were facing.

    In order to ensure the quality of IT services it provided, Infosys benchmarked againstinternational quality standards like ISO 9000, CMM and the Malcolm Baldrige

    framework.

    Infosys also used Six Sigma cross-functional mapping, to ensure improvement. AsInfosys used SEI CMM, it could provide its clients with accurate budgeting andsuperior productivity and was successful in meeting the goals set for schedule, cost,

    quality, etc.

    Infosys strove to meet stringent quality requirements in its projects by using qualityprocesses throughout the life of the project.

    At every stage of the project from conceptualization to closure, detailed checklists,standards, guidelines and templates were used to illustrate every aspect of the project.

    MAKING THE MODEL WORK IN INFOSYS: -

    Every week, client meetings were conducted and a status report was prepared togauge the progress of the project.

    The weekly meetings were real-time meetings, usually conducted every Friday. The agenda of the meeting included review of status reports and discussion on issues

    related to the project.
