Organisation Profile: The Organic Product cluster is a recently (2006) established cluster covering the whole country and aiming to promote organic products and support organic farming in Greece. FORTH is between the founding members of

Cluster’s activities include:•policy making•Supporting international/national cooperation•information on new technologies/methods in organic farming

The cluster comprises of organic food producers, food industries, organic farms, consulting and certification organisations.

Profile:HBio is aiming at the promotion of the Greek Life Sciences business sector and the facilitation of business & research collaborations between Greek and foreign companies and research groups. - Started in 2004, legal entity was set up in 2006 - FORTH: main driving force for HBio’s establishment, founding member animator of the cluster.

Cluster activities include:•Networking with basic players in GR, incl. policy makers•HBio & member’s activities promotion at GR/ international level•Facilitation of international co-operation and technology transfer

The cluster comprises Greek companies in the sectors of Biotechnology, Diagnostics, Medical Devices, Pharmaceuticals and Services.

D) Social Economy Cluster

• Location: Crete• Organization profile: The development of the cluster is based

on the Leader+ and EQUAL EU programmes Social economy enterprises have been established through Leader & Leader+ programmes in the rural areas of Crete. Main activities are production of local products (women cooperatives).

The cluster is supported through EQUAL programme and includes women cooperatives, individuals working in rural areas and co- operations of handicapped people. Expected to start late 2007

• Organising tailored inward cluster missions, based on Tech. Watch/ Market Research

• Pursuing networking and lobbying with regional (and international) authorities, policy makers and economic development players

• Organisation of meetings/ workshops/ info-days

• Supporting business development by networking members with national funding organisations and private equity/ venture capital firms

• Promoting the collective views & interests of its members to the National Authorities

• Facilitating the settlement of issues related to the economic/ legal/ regulatory framework in the relevant business sector in Crete/ Greece

• Organisation of outward company missions to innovative cluster regions in Europe and inward company missions tailored to members needs

• Supporting members for participation in international brokerage events

• In most cases clusters not fully operational• National/Regional Funding is available for the
