INTERNATIONAL MESSAGE
Using their talents, expertise, and leadership, Rotary members worldwide are asked to be ‘’gifts to the world’’ this upcoming 2015-16 Rotary year.
Rotary International President-elect K.R. "Ravi" Ravindran called his address to incoming district governors the "most significant moment of my life."
"All of you have been given so many gifts. And you have now been given this great gift: one year to take all your talents, all your gifts, everything that you are and can become -- and Be a Gift to the World," said Ravindran, revealing his presidential theme at the annual five-day training meeting in San Diego, California, USA. "You have one year to take that potential and turn it into reality. One year to lead the clubs in your district and transform the lives of others. The time is so short, yet there is so much to be done."
Highlighting Rotary's biggest challenge, the eradication of polio, Ravindran said, "A future without polio is a gift that we have promised to the children of the world. And indeed it is a gift that we will give."
Ravindran, a member of the Rotary Club of Colombo, Sri Lanka, used Rotary's successes in the fight to eradicate the disease as an illustration of the impact Rotary members can have in the world. When Rotary set a goal of eradicating polio 25 years ago, it was endemic in 125 countries, and more than 1,000 children were becoming paralyzed each day. Today, polio remains endemic in just three countries, Afghanistan, Nigeria, and Pakistan. And in all of 2014, only 333 cases were reported. "We will battle on. We will prevail," he said.
Ravindran discussed some of Rotary's other challenges, including membership.
"We have to find a way to bring back the fundamentals that built our organization: the emphasis on high ethical standards in all aspects of our lives, and the classification system that encourages a diversity of expertise in each club," he said. "Too often these ideas are viewed as little more than inconvenient obstacles to increasing our membership. But they have been essential to Rotary's success, and we ignore them at our own peril."
Ravindran told attendees that the focus on branding is essential to helping Rotary grow. "We need to reposition our image, which we recognize has faded in many parts of the world," he said.
Rotary also needs to continue to raise funds for The Rotary Foundation, attract new members, and encourage greater participation from current members, he added.
"There are no easy answers to any of these questions. And yet the answers must somehow be found. We are the ones who must find them," said Ravindran.
The president-elect closed his speech emphasizing that now is the time to make real change.
"You have one year to build monuments that will endure forever, not carved in granite or marble, but in the lives and hearts of generations. This is our time. It will not come again. Let us grasp it," he said.

CLUB PRESIDENT’S MESSAGE
First of all thank you to all members for entrusting me with the role as President. I feel somewhat
humbled to be elected after only 18 months with the Cub and I hope I can provide the ongoing
leadership and momentum that has occurred during Tim’s term of office.
My goals are as follows:
1. Above all I wish to see our meetings conducted in a business-like fashion but with fun and
camaraderie evident
2. To get all club members involved in contributing to the various avenues of service
3. New and recently new members to have a mentor in the Club to help them understand what
“Rotary” is all about
4. To ensure that the communication process within the Club is simple yet effective
5. To make certain that our Club plan is, in essence, achievable
6. To have the “Rotary” brand better recognised in the community and demonstrate the diversity
we have plus the high standards of behaviour we need to maintain.
We will battle on, we will prevail
Whilst these words, by Rotary International President-elect K.R “Ravi” Ravindran, are linked directly to the eradication of polio - I believe they are very relevant to our Club. Dave Richardson President 2015-16

COMMUNITY SERVICE PLAN 2015-16
CHAIR: Lillias Bovell
Our Club has exhibited, over the past 12 months, a healthy and vibrant approach to Community Service. During 2015-16 the aim is to continue to demonstrate our “service approach” to support the events we have in the past, building capacity and making the most of each as opportunities to “grow the Rotary brand” in our local community and beyond. Many club activities have overarching objectives so each of the club’s community activities are an important way to showcase who and what we, as Rotarians represent. Wearing our Club polo shirts, hats and aprons and/or fluoro vests will help to demonstrate to the community who we are and that we have a passion to support and offer service to our local community. Consistent with our previous community activities it is expected that during 2015-16 the Club will:
support local schools and surf clubs with citizenship sponsorship that will maintain and enhance Rotary relationships and recognition in the area
continue our showcase fundraising event, the Kincumber Rotary Christmas raffle at a number of venues and promote the Rotary brand and membership
participate in graffiti cleanup projects as a club project or combined with other clubs
build local connections and partnerships through vocational events such as Pride of Workmanship Awards, Bullet Proof Your Business, job talks by local businesses and displays
raise funds though the regular collections of donations specific to particular projects eg Disasters, Shelter Boxes, Red Shield Appeal, Youth Projects etc at the Sunday Grower’s Market at Gosford Racecourse
co-ordinate the distribution of Bowel Scan kits in the Kincumber, Green Point and Avoca areas in May 2016
participate in events during the year that may include a Rotary stall at Avoca Beach on the 5 Lands Walk in June and attending other community meetings at various locations and villages
And importantly
support, promote and encourage participation in the Four Villages Walk, as an annual event in March. In Rotary Club of Kincumber2016, it is expected there will be more food stalls, event promotions and entrants to make the day a major function for the community and the Club. This event is also designed to promote the Shipbuilders Memorial Walk as a major and lasting project for Rotary Kincumber.
In addition, the Club will support through volunteer effort
Youth events such as The Science and Engineering Challenge, the Rotary Youth Driver Awareness Program (RYDA)
International Women’s Day Expo (March, University of Newcastle Ourimbah Campus and
other interclub events that occur from time to time where possible.

FUND RAISING PLAN 2015-16
CHAIR: Geoff Suters There is a major challenge this year for fundraising as we not only need to ensure we are able to support the organizations we have always supported we also need to ensure we are able to raise additional funds to ensure we meet our commitment to Gosford Council regarding the Shipbuilders Memorial Project. The club has two sources of direct fund raising in the Community Chest Raffle and the Xmas Raffle. Our target is to achieve $20,000 income from these two activities which will require a dedicated ongoing commitment from members. We will need to pursue other avenues of funding to support our activities. To achieve this we need to be:
Proactive in applying for grants through various sources
Approaching organisations to partner us with financial support. With the Club’s reliance on two major annual Fund Raising events for the bulk of its funds raised, and the associated physical commitment, we are committed to begin the process of establishing an additional major fundraising signature project that will be sustainable for the longer term. A signature event is one which the community values and associates with Rotary. Potential fund raising events could be a
Turning the 4 Villages’ Walk into a fund raiser.
Facilitating the running of the Kincumber Mountain Challenge through a joint venture with local running groups.
The fund raising role is one of supporting the club directors and chairs and coordinating grant applications. Fundraising is always a challenge with so many charities wanting support on the Central Coast. We need to come up with an event that is exciting for Central Coast families to participate in. This will ensuring the event grows over the next few years and enables us to continue supporting the local community organisations we have always supported, as well as completing the Shipbuilders Project. I look forward to the challenge and know I will get the support of the members of the club. If anybody has any suggestions or ideas please come and discuss them with me as the more ideas we come up with the easier it will be for us to achieve our goals. Geoff Suters
The Rotary Club of Kincumber Inc 18
ROTARY FOUNDATION PLAN 2015-2016
CHAIR: Fraser McBride For this year we have recorded the following goals:
Promote and increase Centurion participation ie members donate $100/year to the Foundation (Tax Deductible)
Continue the weekly Wine Raffles to generate at least $1000 for gifting to the Foundation with the aim of building sufficient points to let us nominate and ‘honour’ a worthy person for a Paul Harris Fellowship as a way of promoting the Club.
Apply for Rotary Grants as appropriate and available to assist in funding our Club Service activities
Educate members about the Foundation - what it does and how it does it - with a view to better supporting and using this – the Charity Arm of Rotary.
Fraser McBride
RISK MANAGEMENT PLAN 2015-16
RISK MANAGER: Fraser McBride
The principals of Risk Management have been applied to most of the major activities currently undertaken by our Club. These have been documented and relevant actions have been identified and have or will be implemented at the appropriate time to remove, control or reduce risk. During 2015-2016 the control measures will be reviewed and re-evaluated in the light of prevailing conditions to ensure their on-going relevance. The District Website will be used as a source of guidance in this area. All documentation will be held on file.
