  • QUESTIONS?

*This PowerPoint has been created as a part of the scottishathletics School-Club Link Initiative and is designed to be used and edited by clubs to suit their needs. Information in this template is for a club induction session for parents & guardians at a come-and-try evening after a successful recruitment drive at a school event.*Add names to the Welcome slide of who will be leading the session for both parents/guardians and for the young athletes at the come-and-try session*For video make sure the video and presentation are saved in the same location on computerif any problems reinsert the video clip*In the About Athletics section outline the basics of the sport, making it attractive as possible*In the About the Club section include information and activities of club as well as facts and history about the club these are just a few examples*In the Benefits of Joining section emphasise the social, fun aspects as well as competitive opportunities these are just a few ideas*This is an opportunity for the club to explain to parents/guardians how their chid heard about athletics was this come-and-try session set up as a part of a leafleting campaign at local schools or after a schools athletics event. *Outline briefly to parents what the new athletes will be doing during their come-and-try sessions. The key is to make the sessions as fun as possible, so the athletes become hooked on athletics, and will want to come back to the club!*Many clubs will operate in different ways and will have different structures this diagram can be adjusted to suit and represent the club structure and different age/stage appropriate groups *Training Nights will vary with different clubs please change times, locations and days according to club training sessions. It is worth including all training nights as parents/guardians might have other children who may be interested in athletics or they themselves could be interested. *Add details of the clubs membership scheme here, highlighting family discounts, etc*In this slide, clubs should include the key benefits of club membership training and coaching, club support & morale, competition opportunities, etc*Clubs will most likely have an athlete code of conduct in this slide clubs should add the main and important points from the code of conduct so parents/guardians are aware of athlete code of conduct.*Many clubs have a minimum volunteering for parents and guardians, use this slide to details volunteering opportunities and requirements for parents and guardians. Add the roles where the parents/guardians could play a helping hand in the club.Emphasise the social and fun aspects of helping out in the club*What happens next in the club for new inductees trial period, welcome packs, etcAlso include important contact details for relevant coaches/convenors in the club
