The rising use of cloud technology has had a profound effect on the way in which many firms do business and has subsequently become a highly valuable tool for data storage, particularly for those of smaller stature.

In the past, each user within a business network needed to hardware and software on an on-site server in order to securely share and store data, yet with the cloud, it is possible to achieve the same result with a network of remote servers, saving a substantial amount of time and space for companies running a smaller operation.

This allows a company to stop worrying about the technical side of things and concentrate on their day-to-day business operations.

Such a development allows a smaller firm to be a lot more competitive in its respective sector, as the providers of the cloud service are the ones dealing with any problems that may occur within the system.

As well as security and flexibility, many people are also attracted to the concept of cloud storage because of the fact that it costs a lot less than backing up on equipment such as external hard drives or backup tapes.

Manually copying your data by using such methods can be a time-consuming process, which in turn requires costly manpower.

There is also the consideration of costs associated with down-time, a concept that is eliminated when using the cloud, as everything is automatically synced and easily restored when something goes wrong.

However, it is perhaps worth noting that although cloud storage is a great and convenient way of securing your most important data, it is also good to ensure that you have a data recovery program in place, to really make sure that all of your information is safe and secure.
