Introduction• To theoretically define Cloud
computing :
It is Internet-based computing,
whereby shared resources,
software and information are
provided to computers and other
devices on-demand.
• In simple words it can be said as a
System, Platform or even an OS.Fig: Basic concept

What is cloud computing?• “Cloud” is actually a metaphor for the Internet. • Knowledge about controls and ownership in
computer infrastructure is not needed by the user.
• Users simply rent or access the software, payingonly for what they use.
“Cloud computing is using the Internet to access someone else’s software running onsomeone else’s hardware in someone else’s data centre while paying only for what youuse.”

Architecture Cloud computing actually has two
layers.
One is front end and other is back end. They connect to each other through
a network, usually the Internet.
The assumption in architecture is thatthe demand for resources is not always
consistent from client to cloud.

Front End & Back EndFRONT END BACK END
•Client use
•Applications needed to access the
cloud system.
•All cloud systems do not givesame interface to users.
• Front end is a technical term .
•Refers to the interface though
which a user can use some kind of services.
•Refers physical peripherals.
•It is cloud itself.
•Monitor’s client’s demand.
• Back end is cloud itself whichmay encompasses of various
computer machines.

Characteristics

Dynamic computing
infrastructure.
Foundation of this infra is
standardized, scalable & secure
infrastructure. The infra should be virtualized to
run various services.
Finally, the infrastructure must be
utilized.
This dynamic infra is important
for elasticity of cloud computing.
• Cloud computing is service-
centric.
• This provides advantage of not
to bogged down in systemadministration.
• By, help of this user can easily
access pre-defined computing
environments.
• An IT-server centric view
enables user adoption &
business agility.
• Reduces cost, makes faster
operations.
IT service-centric
approach.

Self-service based
usage model.
•Interacting with cloud
requires self-service.
•The best thing is that it
provides users the ability toupload, build, schedule,
manage, and report on their
business services.
•More self-service providedless administrative
involvement required.
•Saves Time & Money.
Consumption-based
billing.
•Cloud-computing is user-
driven.
•It must have mechanism
that can capture usage info.•Pro’s are that user only pay
for what he/she uses.
•This keep’s cost down.
•From provider’s view thishelps them to track usage
info. & thus charge back the
user accurately.

Cloud Patterns
•PRIVATE CLOUD:
Private cloud (also
called internal cloud orcorporate cloud) is a
marketing term for a
proprietary computing
architecture that
provides hosted servicesto a limited number of
people behind a firewall.

Cloud Patterns
•PUBLIC CLOUD
This is
provided by athird-party
provider.
It is self-
service based
and consideredthe most
traditional cloud
pattern.

Cloud Patterns
•HYBRID CLOUD
A hybrid storage cloud
uses a combination of public and private storage
clouds.
Hybrid storage clouds
are often useful forarchiving and backup
functions.

Cloud Patterns
•COMMUNITY
CLOUD
Established whereseveral organization
require similar needs.
More expensive pattern.
Offer a higher level
of privacy, security and/or policy
compliance.

Intercloud
•Intercloud is
interconnected
global cloud of
clouds.• This cloud have
dimension of one
machine having
several servers.
•But, still it raisesmany security, legal
and billing concept.

Pros & Cons
PROS:
Lower computer
costs
Improvedperformance
Better storage
capacity
CONS:Stored data
might not be
secure

Conclusion
• Cloud computing is an emerging computingtechnology that uses the Internet and central
remote servers to maintain data and
applications.
•Gives us the Ease of use.•Provides high Scalability.
•It prevents the most dangerous phobia of
MONEY!! I.e. Economical.
•It simple words we can conclude that it gives
us a way to trend away from the PAIN!!
