– database storage

– applications and

– other IT services

through a cloud services platform via the internet with pay-as-you-

go pricing.

• Cloud Computing provides developers and IT departments

with the ability to focus on what matters most and avoid

undifferentiated work like:

– procurement

– maintenance and

– capacity planning


WHY Cloud Computing???

• Access to flexible and low cost IT resources.

• Say no to large upfront investments in hardware.

• Save time with no management of hardware.

• Provision right type and size of computing resources.

• Access as many resources as needed, instantly, pay only

for what we use.


Cloud Computing Works???

• Cloud service platform owns and maintains the network-

connected hardware required for application services.

• User only provision and use what is needed via a web

application.


Types of Cloud Computing

• Need of different Types???

• Different models and deployement strategies have

emerged to help meet specific needs of different users.

• Each type of cloud service and deployment method,

provides different levels of control,flexibility and

management.

• Understanding difference between different services and

deployment strategies enables us to decide what set of

Types of Cloud Computing

• Three main models, each represent a different part of

cloud computing stack:

– Infrastructure as a Service(IaaS)

–Platform as a Service(PaaS)

–Software as a Service(SaaS)


Infrastructure as a Service(IaaS)

• Basic building block for cloud IT.

• Provides access to:

– networking features

– computers and

– data storage space

• Provides highest level of flexibility and management

control over IT resources.

• Similar to existing IT resources, IT departments and

Platform as a Service(PaaS)

• Remove the need for organisations to manage underlying

infrastructure(hardware and OS).

• User/Organisations Focus on the deployment and

management of applications.

• Takes care of:

– resource procurement

– capacity planning

– software maintenance

– patching

Software as a Service(SaaS)

• Provides complete package run and managed by service

provider.

• Manages our services and underlying infrastructure.

• User focus is how to make use of that software.
