Problem Analysis
Most of the pressing environmental problems in the Viet Tri urban area relate to the industrialisation and use of outdated production technology, combined with deficient municipal services. The rapid industrial and urban development during the first decades of the city was not managed in a sustainable manner. Therefore, a major effort is required to correct the situation and secure a safe human living environment together with improved socio-economic conditions.

Immediate Objectives• Strategy and Action Plans for management of
domestic/industrial waste and wastewater and cleaner production within industry in Viet Tri area in the process of approval.
• Capacity on environmental planning and management in Provincial authorities, Community representatives and industrial management improved, and co-operation between stakeholders enhanced through visible demo-projects.
• Application for Soft Loan financing of domestic and industrial wastewater treatment positively screened.
