    UNITS

    The air handling units AQ series are designed to match the requirements of HVAC systems for civil, business, industrial and special

    applications (hospitals, clean rooms etc.), suitable for both indoor and outdoor installation.They are available in the BASIC and COMPACT versions, the last one complete with switchboard for power and controls, and field controlcomponents internally installed. All those units are accurately factory assembled, wired and tested.The casing is with aluminium frame and sandwich panels with basic execution of the panels 50 or 27 mm thick , outer skin in galvanisedplastic coated sheets, inner skin in galvanised sheets and insulation in injected polyurethane and assures an optimum resistance to theatmospheric agents.

    A rigid channel base uniformly distributes the unit weight.Lifting holes in the base frame permit quick unit rigging and easy installation.The fans are centrifugal type but, on request, axial fans and Plug-fans can be provided.

    The AQ series has 63sizes covering an air-flow range from 1000 to90000 m3/h.The basic sizes are 27with a total of 36 alter-natives in the front di-mensions to overridedimensional limits in theinstallation.In the diagram, for thebasic sizes, the operat-ing fields are shownaccording to the facevelocity accross theheat exchangers.

    In the following table and diagram the basic and alternative sizes are shown. The alternative sizes allow to satisfy particular requirements interms of:

    dimensional limits in the technical room optimisation of the ahu size according to the specified face velocity transport in container optimisation of the shipping costs by stacking of ahu on two levels

    In the diagram overall height and width of the various sizes are also shown.The size is identified by a number that reminds the nominal airflow (at 2.5 m/s of face velocity) in cents of m 3/h . Example:Ad esempio, size136 has a nominal airflow of approximately 13600 m 3/h.

    the doors are equipped with hinges and handles. The handles are provided witha control mechanism which allows the proper tightening of the door against theframework. The doors in the pressurized sections open into the ahu for safetyreasons and to be self tightening. Optionally doors can be supplied withsightglass.

    the panels can be supplied in two differentthicknesses: 50 mm: the panels are fixed with screws

    covered with a PVC profile (1) for an optimumthermal brake factor

    27 mm: the panels are fixed with screws. Thedoors are anyway of the nominal thickness of50 mm.

    A polyethilene gasket (2), between the panel skins,assures the thermal brake. A PVC gasket (3),between panel and frame, avoids air leakage at bothnegative and positive pressures.

    The AQ series air handling units are designed with a casing with self supporting framework and panels.

    AIR INLET Is located at the front wall, with full or partial section, or at side wall, or at top or bottom panel.Can be equipped with flange, damper and/or antivibration canvas.

    MIXING BOX Available with various positions of the openings, is equipped with external or internal dampers and, optionally, antivibration canvas.

    3-WAYS MIXING BOX Available for horizontal and double stacked ahu. Is equipped with dampers and, optionally, antivibration canvas.

    DAMPERSthe dampers, suppliedon request at air intakeand outlet and at heatrecovery sections, andalways at 2 and 3ways mixing boxes,are completely ina l u m i n i u m , w i t haerofoil blades andmovement of bladeswith gears internallyplaced. Optionally theb l a d e s c a n b ecompleted with arubber gasket.

    ANTIVIBRANTION CANVAS Antivibration canvas can be provided atunit intakes and outlets.The antivibration canvas are mechanicallyassembled with two aluminium frames,aluminium and nylon corner pieces,canvas in self extinguishing fabric. Theframes form a 40 mm flange fot couplingto the ductwork.

    LOUVRES At outdoor air intakes louvres withmesh can be provided. Galvanisedsteel as standard, aluminium onrequest.

    Note:the performances of fans, coils and heat recovery units and the pressure drops of all the components are not shown in thefollowing tables since they are evaluated in the actual operating conditions with the computer selection program (available onrequest).

    Perfect configuration of the software and correct wiring, checked at CLIVETfactories

    The typical supply includes the power and control switchboard and the field compo-nents. The switchboard includes the microprocessor controller, the mains switch, theterminal (keyboard + display). The field elements are supplied installed and wired ex-cept for room sensors. When the unit is supplied in more sections, the wires are wiredat one end only but clearly identified at the other for wiring at customer's care. Thesame for the 3-way valves that could be supplied knocked down because of shipping limitations. Each valve assembly (if selected) includes:modulating 3-way valve, balancing valve, no.2 manometer cocks with flange (manometer not included), no.2 1/4" muffs for thermometer (notincluded), 1/4" drain cock, 1/4" valve for ventilation.

    UNIT SPECIFICATIONS

    CONTROL FUNCTIONS The controls, of proportional (P) or proportional + integral (P+I) type (integration time selectable), has the following functions:

    ON / OFF of the unitThe unit is switched on manually or according to the weekly timer included in the control. The logic includes a morning boost: in this period theunits operates at 100% recirculated air. When the unit is not in ON position, an attenuated operation mode can be set instead of the completeOFF of the unit.

    Ventilation

    The fans can be operated at both fixed and variable speed; in the latter case, according to a pressure or air velocity signal.The dampers, according to the configuration of the specific ahu, are controlled: by the AHU mode (on/off) by the set point of fresh air percentage by the signal of an air quality sensor by the free-cooling (sensible o enthalpic) function by the state of the anti-frost alarm by the state of the general alarmDampers, valves, supply and return fans, are switched on in this sequence and not at the same time to avoid structural, frost and power over-load problems.

    Temperature Its controlled, according to the summer, winter and free-cooling set points, by means of: water heating coil (or pre- and re-heating coils) (modulating) or electric (up to 6 steps) water cooling coil (modulating) or direct expansion to be used in conjunction with a condensing unit (up to 4 steps) 3-ways mixing box, with optional heat recovery unit with by-pass, for free-cooling (also enthalpic type) and free-heating.The supply air temperature is then controlled in its minimum and maximum limits.

    Relative humidity The humidification, according to the winter set point, is controlled alternatively by: adiabatic on-off humidifier (in this case the controller manages also the pre- and re-heating) adiabatic modulating humidifier (in this case the controller manages also the pre-heating) steam modulating humidifierThe supply air humidity is then controlled in its maximum limit to avoid condensation in the ducts.The de-humidification, if set, is controlled according to the summer set point with the cooilng coil and the re-heating coil.

    Seasonal changeoverThe control, can be set to automatically recognize the requested operation mode (heating or cooling) or can be forced from the keyboard or

    with a remote switch.In this way the correct set point is activated (summer or winter) and the correct operation of the cooilng coil (if this is of double use). A deadzone between the set point guarantees from the instability of the system.
