Children’s National HospitalThe hospital, located on the Sheikh Zayed Campus, houses 323 inpatient beds, including 66 dedicated to our Neonatal Intensive Care Unit, which is ranked No. 1 in the country by U.S. News & World Report and recognized by the American Academy of Pediatrics with its highest designation, Level IV. Children’s National has more than 60 intensive care beds, a Cardiac Intensive Care Unit and the only pediatric Neuro-Intensive Care unit in the mid-Atlantic region. The hospital is home to the region’s busiest Emergency Department and is a designated Level 1 Trauma Center, the highest rating available. The state-of-the-art East Inpatient Tower is designed to enhance family-centered care. The tower has private patient rooms, each with its own bathroom; ample space for parents or guardians to stay overnight with their child; and many amenities, including Internet access.

The hospital features state-of-the-art operating rooms with wireless, robotic equipment for minimally invasive procedures, sophisticated monitoring and real-time, 3-D imaging. Additionally, broadcast and teleconference capability enhances education and training opportunities.

Satellite Emergency DepartmentChildren’s National operates a full-service Emergency Department at United Medical Center, located at 1310 Southern Ave. SE in Washington, D.C. Families are encouraged to consult with primary care doctors or health center care teams in deciding when to use the Emergency Department for serious illnesses or injuries. Children’s National Research InstituteChildren’s National Research Institute (CNRI) is the academic arm of Children’s National. Located on the top floors of the hospital, CNRI encourages scientists, clinicians, nurses and other Children’s National staff to undertake research projects that will positively impact the care of children. Through the institute, Children’s National offers our patients exclusive access to many pediatric clinical trials addressing a full spectrum of childhood illnesses.

Children’s National Primary CareChildren’s National Primary Care offices are located in Maryland and Washington, D.C. The practices are staffed by pediatricians and nurse practitioners who provide comprehensive health care services including immunizations, routine check ups, diagnosis and treatment of illness including care for children with complex and special needs.
