all three patients withsynchronous livermetastasis.Immunohistochemicalstudies revealed thatall tumor specimenswith stromal type(5/5) ofcarcinoembryonicantigen staining had

positive expression ofcarcinoembryonicantigen messengerribonucleic acid.Postoperative livermetastasis wasdetected in fourpatients, three ofwhom (75 percent)had positiveexpression ofcarcinoembryonicantigen messenger

ribonucleic acid intumor-draining veinblood. CONCLUSIONS:Positive expression ofcarcinoembryonicantigen messengerribonucleic acid intumor-draining veinblood differed by thetype ofimmunohistochemicalstaining withcarcinoembryonic

antigen. These datasuggest that patientswith positiveexpression ofcarcinoembryonicantigen messengerribonucleic acid intumor-draining veinblood may be at a highrisk for postoperativeliver metastasis.
