Clinical Dictionary for iSalut • Aims to standardize the vocabulary of the CHS to:

– Achieve full semantic interoperability between information systems. – Uniquely identify the clinical information recorded by healthcare

professionals. – Provide a homogeneous base to represent contents, and their meaning, in

EHRS and CDSS for research and innovation projects.

• Is an eHealth transversal project of Generalitat of Catalonia’s Health Department:

– Leaded by the Office of Standards and Interoperability of TicSalut foundation.

– Managed by a permanent commission and organized in domains of content which are worked by a multidisciplinary team of experts.

• Is used in other eHealth projects like the Shared Medical Records System

of Catalonia (HC3), the Personal Healthcare Chanel (CPS) or the model to integrate assistance levels (WiFIS).

Clinical Dictionary for iSalut • Is based on SNOMED CT as ontology and

reference terminology: – Has interrelated concepts from many

domains. – Each concept has more than one

description. – Supports multilanguage. – Uses subsets of SNOMED CT to group

components by domains. – Contains different vocabularies currently in use

mapped to SNOMED CT.

• New components and mechanisms of SNOMED

CT are created in the Catalan extension of the standard and are submitted to the Spanish Minister of Health.
