HKHDCCA / NDCC School Holiday Junior Cricket Clinics – January 2014 Clinic 4 – Mark Taylor Oval, Waitara – Wed. 22 nd , Thurs. 23 rd & Fri. 24 th January 2014 The Coaches' Association (HKHDCCA) conducted four school holiday junior cricket clinics during January 2014 in partnership with Northern District CC. The last clinic was held at Mark Taylor Oval, Waitara, on 22 – 24 January (8.30am – 12.00pm), with 75 boys in attendance. Earlier clinics were held at MTO, Kenthurst and Montview, achieving a record total of 210 registrations, making HKHDCCA arguably the largest provider of junior cricket coaching in NSW. The 12 coaches engaged were Rod Hokin (Head Coach), Bruce Wood (Co-ordinator), Josh Miller & Becca Silk (Level 2 accredited coaches); Will Fiedler, Daniel Anderson, Daniel Wood, James Madden, Harry Middlebrook, Nick McNay, Calvin Breytenbach & Nick Miller (Level 1 coaches). The other coaches engaged during our January clinics were Justin Epthorp, David Lowery, Braden Cheng, Luke Thorburn, Aaron Crofts & Hamish Fullagar. The final MTO clinic included our usual range of activities for the boys aged between 6 & 14, which included video analysis of the bowlers’ actions; specialist coaching on batting; pace & spin bowling; catching; throwing and wicket- keeping skills; training in the nets; and a variety of coaching drills and games on the oval to reinforce the cricket skills learnt and to develop team work. We were fortunate to complete the three mornings without any rain interruptions. We held a ‘Master Class’ session on Day 2 to inspire the children and to demonstrate their coaches’ cricket skills. Daniel Anderson (NDCC Second Grade batsman and NSW U/19 representative) faced up to some lively fast bowlers and quality spinners and he impressed the young players with his sound technique and powerful shots. Each player received a special certificate, plus 29 awards were presented at the conclusion of the clinic. Refer to photo gallery http://on.fb.me/1aBIniC. The feedback from the players and their parents at each clinic was terrific and we continue to get a very high return rate of previous attendees, which demonstrates the popularity of these clinics.
