I hope that you all had a busy, productive summer, and still made time to enjoy family and friends. CRBRA’s board and committees have been busy, too!The search for our new Executive Officer is well
underway. The EO Transition committee was amazed at the number of highly qualified candidates that applied. First interviews are complete, and we are on track to identify our next EO mid-Fall. No one will be able to replace Pam, but rest assured, I believe we will find someone who will work hard for our members and bring many new ideas to the association.Our members have also been hard at work regarding the recent proposed legislation to require fire sprinklers in all new construction in Albany County. We have been sure to let our voices be heard on this very important topic. At this time, the Albany County committees are meeting to discuss their bill again. The bill must pass through the Audit & Finance and the Law Committees before it can be brought to a vote by the entire legislation. Please watch for any Voter Voice or CRBRA emails asking for help in contacting our elected officials on this. Additionally we have already started preparing for the 2018 ICC codes that are coming. Our very own Annemarie Mitchell is chair of the New York State Builders Association Code Committee. She will do an amazing job leading this extremely important committee. If you would like to be a key member in ensuring that the upcoming codes are not overly restrictive, please reach out to Annemarie. She would welcome engaged participants.Our Parade of Homes was spectacular! There were 12 beautiful entries that highlighted all that our members
have to offer. I hope you had an opportunity to personally see how talented our builders are. This event was only made better by the charitable contribution in the amount of $15,000 that CRBRA was pleased to make to the Center for Disability Services. Although Capital Region Builders and Remodelers has been keeping a close eye on business, this summer also included great opportunities for our members to have fun together. PWB and Green Building committees joined up to host a Green Roof Top Event at Doane Stuart. PWB also hosted a family miniature golf evening that was loads of fun. Our annual golf tournament as well as our day at the track sold out again. Yet another example of how much our members enjoy spending time together. The camaraderie and networking opportunities are one of the top benefits of our association!The fall season will continue to offer more amazing opportunities to highlight all of our members’ talents in our Best In Building Awards. The entry period is open now. Please be sure to submit entries for the work that you’re most proud of. Remember, there is a category for EVERYONE from marketing and sales to unique remodeling features; associate members to builders. I can’t wait to see the winners this year! Networking and education opportunities aplenty are coming with the PWB scavenger hunt in downtown Albany, FIL’s annual Monday Night Football, Clay Shoot, Paint & Sip with Donna Mock, Sandler training and CAPS I- III being offered.I am so fortunate to have the opportunity to be President this year. Millions of Americans are living longer and more active lives. Because they are embracing newly found and changing lifestyles, they need to revitalize their home environment. Identifying this burgeoning opportunity and then developing the skills to interact with this market
can help you grow your business dramatically. The goal of the course is to equip course participants with the knowledge and tools to effectively market and sell services to the aging in place (AIP) market.

Design/Build Concepts for Aging in Place prepares you to take on the AIP market intentionally, by calibrating your business to address the unique challenges of providing successful solutions. The goal of this course is to enable participants to identify common challenges within the home and understand attractive design concepts that create a safe and comfortable environment for clients who want to age in place as well as identify with one or more of these groups:
• Individuals who are not experiencing health issues related to aging • Individuals who have a progressive or other condition that requires home modifications or equipment • Individuals who are dealing with an abrupt or traumatic health-related changeThe course presents various methods and techniques for modifying home design, from the perspective of new construction and retrofitting.
