MARRIED TO THE ARTSMODERN. FUN. AND IN LOVE.

20122012 has already been an amazing year; We’ve finally settled in to our new brand, been accepted to fourteen different publications and collaborated on some amazing projects we can’t wait to share. We just returned from attending WPPI for a 2nd time so we can continue to learn and grow as artists and business owners. And, we have some awesome thingsthings to look forward to in the coming months; like destination weddings, Evan’s brother tying the knot and some fun shoots of our own.

We started ‘click!’ as a resource for our own brides and grooms. Now we have another super fun way to showcase our beloved couples and help everyone get to know us better. This first issue is all about weddings, so inside these pages you will find tips on creating your wedding day timeline, deciding whether a ‘First Look’ is for you, and how we managemanage our clients here at the studio. We believe that photography is the most important investment you will make for your wedding, so we want to help guide you in making decisions that will get you the most out of your images.

Over time we plan to use this publication to share details about managing a creative business and of course- what it’s like to be married to your business partner (which is awesome). But for now, we’re going to celebrate! Celebrate our first issue, celebrate 3 years of living the dream, and on May 20th we will be celebrating 5 years of marriage and 1010 years of love (uh oh, that means our high school reunion must be close).

To all of our incredible couples who have put their trust in us and have made our dream possible: thank you! We love you all to pieces.

XOXO,

LOVE LETTERS

Tamara & Jonathan Candace & Matt Alexa

Evan and Caroline definitely made the wed-ding planning process that much easier be-cause once we expressed what theme and ideas we wanted to incorporate in our En-gagement session and our Wedding Day, they immediately displayed their confidence and knowledge and assured us that we could relax, knowing that they were going to make

our special day a memorable one.

All in all Caroline and Evan are very professional, creative and down to earth all at the same time which makes them unique and fun to work with.

They also represent the closeness and happi-ness that marriage brings to couples and this

is very much reflected in their work.

Caroline and Evan were the most pleasant people that I have ever worked with. I told them that I did not like myself in pictures and they both said that I would after the pictures came back. Caroline made me feel beautiful during our bridal shoot! This pair is creative, quick, and absolutely wonderful.

Caroline & Evan are phenomenal people! I couldn't have asked for a better team to shoot my wedding at the Don Cesar. Not only is their photography remarkable but they are helpful in every single way!

Caroline & Evan actually cared about my ideas and what I wanted from their

service.Very professonal and very gifted service.Very professonal and very gifted at their art. Even the groom (who does not enjoy getting his photo taken) felt comfortable infront of the camera and couldn't wait to see the final product! They truly made my wedding even more special! I cannot thank them enough!

We even booked the photo booth with them which is a fun take of what a normal photo booth is. They let you pick your own back drop and make it yours.

We could of not asked for a more creative team of photographers in the business.

Four weeks before your wedding we will touch base via phone or e-mail to discuss your wedding day photo timeline. At this time we will also provide you with our Complete Wedding Information form to fill out with all your wedding details including locations, family members, special wedding day events, vendors and much more. This informationwill ensure we are all on the same page for an will ensure we are all on the same page for an unforgettable and stress-free event!

is an hour before sunset. You don’t want to start your ceremony too close to the sun setting or we’ll be taking a lot of night portraits!

AN IDEAL WEDDING DAY PHOTO TIMELINEThere’s little that’s more important to a perfectly executed and stress free event than an organized timeline. If you are looking to effectively plan out your wedding day with your wedding coordinator or fiancé, here’s a look at a general wedding photo timeline from our point of view. We want to make sure you will have an optimal amount of time for portraits. We of course are used to working with less than ideal amounts of time and are happy to help you customize a timeline that fits your wedding.

Engagement sessions are one of the most fun parts of wedding planning. There is so much anticipation leading up to the big day that it’s easy to get lost in the chaos. An engagement session is a great way to reconnect, and have a bit of fun while getting beautiful portraits to remember this special time in your lives.

ThisThis time to shoot with you prior to the wedding is a big part of our process as photographers. This is how we build a close relationship with each of our couples. It’s also the best way to make you more comfortable in front of the camera. Being nervous at first can show in photos, so we want to get rid of any jitters before the wedding day arrives.arrives. For this reason, we gift an engagement session to each one of our brides and grooms who book their wedding photography with us. We want to show you how relaxed and fun our process is and give you confidence in knowing that you will rock your photos on the wedding day!

It’s also a great way to create some portraits of the two of you in a more relaxed setting so you are able to show your personalities. Many couples even come up with a theme or bring props to tell their love story.

YouYou can use your images on wall portraits, in a wedding guest sign in album, and Thank You cards (shot early enough, we can also provide the images for your Save the Dates or invitations). Images also add another dimension to your wedding album, chronicling the story from engagement to your wedding day. Best of all, you cancan remember this special time forever away from the throngs of loved ones and friends. This is your time together.

Vintage-styled, with old furniture and funky clothes: Bring out your nostalgic or avant garde side with some dramatic, edgy modern shots coupled with retro stylings. At your favorite group hang out: If you are social butterflies, why not include your posse at your favorite hang out? (We’ll be sure to grab some shots of you alone too). Think outside the box! On a boat because you love the song, in a classroom because you met in grade school, at your home, being outdoors-y, in a movie theater, on a balcony at night, picnicing at a park, playing sports... The possibilities are endless! If you can think of it, we will make it happen.

Your favorite skyline: Your city is beautiful at any time of the year, and the skyline shares where you live now, a location that might change with time. A downtown urban session: Fun and funky, pictures in alleyways or in otherwise undiscovered locations of your area make for a more intimate view of the city. An amusement park: Nothing says fun like cotton candy and riding roller coasters. A farmer’s market or favorite store: Spend all your time at Target or Ikea? Love to explore local shops together? This session has potential for tons of personality.

At the place he proposed: After all, what better way to capture an engagement than the place it all started! At your favorite restaurant: Meaningful memories happen with food, we can even capture you cooking a meal at home. Doing your favorite activity: Even if your favorite thing to do together is watch tv or cook together, doing something that shows your personality as a couple is key. Where you first met each other: Whether your first meeting was a discussion at the library or fumbling for the door at the local coffee shop, going back to your beginnings is a marvelous memory.

Great engagement shoot ideas:

THE FIRST LOOK DECISIONWHY MORE COUPLES ARE SEEING EACH OTHER BEFORE THE CERMONY

Page 11: click! Spring/Summer 2012

If you are willing to be a little less tradi-tional, you might consider seeing your fiancé prior to your wedding ceremony. We call this moment a ‘First Look’ and due to the many advantages, more couples are deciding to have one. Not only does it give couples a chance to see each other whenwhen nerves might be running high, it also gives you a chance to have the reveal in private.

From a photographer’s point of view, a first look is optimal for getting relaxed and non-rushed portraits. And from a timing perspective it’s great because your portrait time is no longer restricted to cocktail hour. When couples do decide to see one another, we find a perfect spot at youryour ceremony or getting ready location and coordinate your meeting. We make sure you don’t see one another until the big moment and when the time comes we capture all the smiles and emotions as they unfold. The moment is intimate, exciting and very memorable. Doing a firstfirst look is also a great idea if you are having your ceremony in a church with restrictions on photography.

Doing a First Look also gives you and your fiance the chance to freshen up before portraits if tears are shed. Our couples have said that a First Look made them a lot less nervous and they were able to better enjoy their ceremony.

IfIf you don’t like the idea of a First Look because you don’t think the moment at the end of the aisle will be the same, we’ve never found that to be the case. The first moment together at the end of the aisle is not special because of seeing the bride’s dress, but rather because you’re finally aboutabout to make it official. Megan & Adam decided to have a First Look and their ceremony was still very emotional. You can see from their photos that Adam was filled with anticipation when Megan came down the aisle. We’ve never had a couple regret doing a First Look, but have had several who regretted they did not. several who regretted they did not.

We definitely understand that a First Look isn’t for everyone though, and many of our couples still decide not to do one. The decision can be difficult, but after a little discussion you can determine if it’s right for you.

Page 12: click! Spring/Summer 2012

ThisThis sweet couple has a genuine and natural love that was easy to capture. After a proposal during their trip to Italy, Morgan & Morgan knew they wanted to infuse Italian elements into their wedding details. Photography was one of the most important things to them so they made sure enough time was budgeted for detail shots and group photos, and one ofof the solutions was doing a First Look. We asked bride Morgan to share with us a little about her wedding day and experience with us.

Tell us about deciding to do a First Look“Although we are both very traditional and struggled with the idea of seeing each other before the wedding at first, it was ultimately one of the best decisions we made. It not only gave us a moment to see each other for the first time in a more intimate setting, but gave us the much needed time prior to the wedding to take photos together and with our wedding party. Ultimately this gave us more time to spend with our guests.”this gave us more time to spend with our guests.”

FEATURED COUPLE

Page 13: click! Spring/Summer 2012

What was your favorite photo moment of the day?“It“It is so hard to just choose one of my favorite photo moments, but if I have to choose one it would have to be after Morgan and I announced our “surprise” to everyone, passing out glow neck-laces, bracelets and sunglasses, to kick the party up a notch, starting with “Party Rock Anthem”. I love looking at all of the party photos and seeing how much fun everyone was having, boogying down and singing along to every song. We had a blast and so did allall of our guests, a picture is worth a thousand words (maybe more in this case).”

What was your favorite thing about Caroline & Evan?“One of my favorite things about working with Caroline and Evan (there are really just too many to count) is how laid back and easy going they are. They not only made myself and my husband feel super comfortable in front of the camera, but all of the brides-maids and groomsmen were able to feel at ease as well. This ulti-mately made for remarkable photos.”

What one piece of advice would you give to a bride?“When it comes to the day of your wedding, try your hardest to not worry about the small stuff. Enjoy the entire day, because it will be gone before you know it. After spending a year and a half planning every single detail of this day, it was definitely difficult to let go, but when the day actually came, I had to realize that I did everything that I could and that it was time to put my trust in all the people that we hired to take care of things. Easier said than done sometimes, sometimes, but the most important thing at the end of the day is that you are marrying your best friend. If and when you start to feel yourself getting stressed on your wedding day, just remember what this day is all about.”

IT’S ALL IN THE DETAILS USING DETAILS TO TELL YOUR COMPLETE LOVE STORY

SoSo many things are special about your wedding day. While they may seem like small details, the unassuming pillow your ring bearer carried might have been made from your Christening gown. Or those shoes with the delicate pearl buttons may have been your mother’s. These are the smaller, sometimes unnoticed details that tell the story of your wedding and your love; and these shots are some of our favorite to capture. Whether it’s your bouquet or your shoe or your something blue, it’s all a part of your distinct personality as a couple that we want to show through your images. HillaryHillary & Adam had their destination wedding at Postcard Inn for it’s laid-back beach vibe. MMD Events was there to execute their rustic-glam theme perfectly. The details included a beachwood chuppah and lanterns hanging from the trees surrounding the ceremony space. Hillary carried an amazing composite bouquet andand Adam and his groomsmen wore succulent boutonnieres. The entrance of the reception revealed a chalk board seating chart, candlelight with more hanging lanterns and postcards in lieu of traditional table numbers. They even had a Jenga set for guests to write their congratulations on. The courtyard provided a gorgeous first dance space and the lemon poppy-seed cake was to-die-for. The entire night was certainly one to remember.
