MOVING STUDIO
The « box» is inspired from the old camera schema : a solid box and a retractable soufflet. We decided to use reclaimed wood and umbrella textile as materials. We chose to design our «box» so it can be transported from one place to another, and allow modularity.

We are inspired by the folding cameras af the early 1900’s. By changing the scale of this object, we can realize a modular building with spaces that can be opened and closed like soufflet of a camera.
To create a movable unit we decided to liberate the unit from the ground by putting it on stilts.

Test prototype
The reticulated crosses allow the folding of the pleat. These are related to the pilars with sliding rails.

The main box of our building will be made of wood, just like the old cameras. We intend to recycle all kind of woods used by photographers, like tables and frames, to build the box and the structure. `
To fill up the structure, we will use recycled umbrellas from photo studios. We take the triangles to create a bigger patchwork.
An extension is possible by adding units and by connecting them with the modular sides.
