Monsignor’s Message
02
I am very heartened by the early responses to the 2022 Pastoral Services Appeal which I gave at all Masses last weekend. There is a good amount of interest in our parish case for the rebate we will get this year (10% to a parish in need; the rest to the remodel and upda ng of our 3 parish restrooms). Some have also given their thoughts and opinions on various aspects of the bathrooms as we start planning; for that I am grateful also. It is my hope that as many households as possible will donate to the PSA 2022. The amount of
your gi is an important decision; please review what you might be able to do, offer that up to our Lord, and make your pledge. No gi is too small; all gi s are gratefully accepted and needed.
Final Results of 2021 Pastoral Services Appeal
492 households pledged a total of $340,389.00. Once our fair share of the overall diocesan goal was paid ($158,000), that gave us a rebate in the amount of $180,489.00. 10% of that was sent to St. Anthony Claret Parish in Anaheim for their “Door To Christ” project; the remainder was used for our Sight and Sound Ministry. Thank you all so very much.
Gospel Encouragement
This coming Sunday’s Gospel gives each of us a challenge, especially if one is feeling red, frustrated, or overwhelmed. When Jesus says to Simon (Peter) to “put out into deep water and lower your nets for a catch”, he replies “We have worked hard all night and have caught nothing”. Then, a er a deep breath and perhaps an exasperated sigh, he added “but at your command, I will lower the nets.” Slowly coming to understand the power, wisdom, and holiness of Jesus, Peter and the other disciples begin to trust that Jesus would never lead them astray but would always lead them to a be er place. May we do the same as we con nue our journey each day. May the peace of the Lord be with you.

Stewardship Reflection Fifth Sunday of Ordinary Time
Every day, in li le ways and in big ways, God asks, “Whom shall I send?” Whether it is
someone to take on a new ministry, to give a friendly smile to a stranger or to say a word of
encouragement to a friend, God constantly provides opportuni es to help someone in need. God is always talking to us; we just need to pay
more a en on. When you hear God calling have the courage to walk through the door and
say “Here I am, Lord.”
“Then I heard the voice of the Lord saying, ‘Whom shall I send? Who will go for us?’ ‘Here I am,’ I said, ‘send me!’” (I 6:8)

“Caring for the Whole Person Ini a ve is a statewide ini a ve of the California Bishops and Catholic healthcare systems that enable each parish to provide community support and resource referrals to families with loved ones who are suffering, ill, or at the end of life.” (California Conference of Catholic Bishops, 2016). The implementa on of this ini a ve has been somewhat delayed due to the pandemic; however, we in St. Timothy Parish are star ng to do the teaching and training components of this ini a ve that will encourage people to discuss their desires through the end of life before they are ill and will promote a thorough understanding of Catholic teachings and tradi ons. The ini al groups of people to go through the process here at St. Timothy Parish will be key parish staff, parish nurses, our Funeral Planning Team, our Eucharis c Ministers to the Sick and Homebound, members of the Order of Malta, and other parishioners who are interested in a ending. The facilitator of the group will be our own parishioner, Pa y Barne Mouton, who is well known in the Diocese and County of Orange in her professional work at Alzheimer’s Orange County, and is part of the diocesan leadership for the Caring for the Whole Person Ini a ve. The outline of the training here is: Saturday, March 12 The Catholic Church’s teachings about End of Life issues Saturday, April 2 Explana on of Advance Care planning, Hospice, and Pallia ve care Saturday, May 7 Aging Services 101, What are the levels of care, when appropriate, who pays? Saturday, June 4 Demen a 101, what are the warning signs, diagnosis, treatment, care, resources
All sessions will take place from 9:30 - 11:30 a.m. in the Upper Room. There is no charge for this training. RSVP is appreciated; please contact the Front Office (949) 249-4091 if you wish to a end.
