We stand at a place in Liberia where youth have to rise up and contribute to the MDGs and a cleaned environment. It is also precious to engage as youth into social entrepreneurial activities that will help our self and communities. Such activities that will be participatory by students and youth.

Background

Liberia is littering with wastes and the issue of unemployment and poverty are the main diseases that youth are suffering from; being a direct victim or beneficiary of Government policies and with the challenges of school it is almost impossible for a youth to survive with out a financial aid.

With these in mind, we have decided to start a door to door community waste collection program that will clean our community and see youth in school through wages earn while working for the program.

To reduce, reuses and recycle waste from campuses and communities disposal

GoalTo clean five hundred homes and to empower fifty (50) students in a period of three (3) Months

Reduction of health hazard within the community by 75%, which will limit Malaria, Cholera, diarrhea, Typhoid et al in these communities.

The project is a three month pilot program which will be monitor and evaluated and after a successful completion may be sustain.

Duration

ImplementationWho & how will the waste be collected?

There will be five (5) zones created ; one hundred (100) expected clients to a zone which will be served by fifty (50) student. The students will be divided into two (2) shift “ morning and evening” , twenty-five students to a shift.

Each zone will have an assigned monitor/supervisor.

Waste will be collected from homes and dump at the city government main waste disposal sites.

Each student will work for at most three(3) hours a day, twenty-four (24)days in a month and will be paid 2.50USD per day, which monthly will accumulate 60.00USD.

We hope to achieve these with the help of the community who will subscribe to our service in order to help student s and the community. We are calling on stakeholder to support our budget and aid us in guidance and resources.
